It still has an oil psi issue?? (not a real issue, but an ECM issue). .
Somebody has to come up with a logical explanation how this is only an ECM issue. Per Amsoil:

“In actuality, the new on-board diagnostic (OBD) system is more sensitive to oil pressure fluctuations, giving warnings at earlier levels than before
Um, ok... but what is actually happening with the oil pressure?

Remember the actual switch is a on off pressure switch set around 6 psi. That is it. The ECM either thinks there is less than 6 psi or that there is more then 6 psi. For whatever reason some 3G trucks with the BMK-15 get oil warning lights. Why? Because they are too sensitive? How so?

Is the oil pressure at startup delayed just enough for the ECM to trigger the warning?

Are there actual pressure spikes and droops (as the Amsoil response seems to imply) where the droops are below 6 psi? When and why do these fluctuations happen with the BMK-15?

From what I understand it takes too long at startup to hit 6psi. The psi switch is on the opposite side of the block than the BMK... .

But IMHO the Ea080 is a better filter to run on the full flow anyhow.

I have a FS2500 system on my truck a little spendy but works good. Here is what they say it filters down too.

(The FS-2500 is a remote mounted filtration system. The FS-2500 cleans your oil at an efficiency rate of 2. 78 microns absolute. ) Thats from there web site. Here is the chart swri-1

I looked at the Oilguard and here is what they say theres filters down too.

(This graph by Fluid Technologies, Inc. , clearly shows that the OilGuard Bypass Filter removes 92% of all particles 2 micron and larger within a single pass. ) Oilguard

I hope this can help you some!

So how is that considered an ECM issue?

Its easier to move blame... why blame a product you are trying to sell?

Pretty much... But the ECM doesn't see pressure as fast as it would like, and throws a code...

The amsoil is absolute at 2. 00 microns.

So that is not an ECM issue. Either you have to conclude the engineers who specificed the time delay in the ECM's program didn't know what they were doing and made it too short or they knew what they were doing and delaying the oil pressure longer than their set time is simply not a good thing.

Is that single pass?

Is that single pass?

I don't believe any oil filter is rated single pass. The only filters I know of that are rated single pass are fuel filters (and thats not all, Baldwin went to a multipass:mad::mad::#@$%!)

Yeah filter marketing sucks. One must be careful to compare apples to apples. Here is a quote from th oilguard site:
Oilguard said:
WHAT THE TEST RESULTS SHOWED:

· The single pass efficiency of the OilGuard filter is over 92 percent at two microns.

· In its multi-pass mode, the second pass efficiency of the OilGuard filter is computed to be over 99% at two microns.

To give the specs for a fuel filter using a multi pass test should be considered fraud and be illegal. It is like saying a CTD ram can tow 1 million pounds! *

* Note this was a multipass test where 10,000 lbs was towed 100 times equalling 1 million lbs

And this is because the oil system takes longer to prime... to show pressure. Which IMO, means the truck is starved for oil just "that much" longer at startup.

And lets be clear, we are talking the remote filter system with the full flow and bypass, not the stand alone bypass? I don't ever remember an issue with the Amsoil standalone bypass filters... other than noise.

Whatever you do do not buy the Amsoil model BMK-25. I have it on my truck and i am going back and forth with the tech. department trying to resolve my issues. It is suppose to be improved from the older model and is actually specified for my year truck, but i bought two of them and installed them on both 2006 trucks and they both have the same problem. If you go Amsoil make sure you get the single not dual kit.

I was reassured quite some time ago by Amsoils tech department that this issue had been taken care of. I just sent them an email to see what's going on. I will post up what I here.

Dumb question of the day... can you run a bypass filter by amsoil and still run delo or premium blue? I like the change frequency at 5,000 miles, but the filtration of a bypass. Thanks!

Yes, you can run any oil with any bypass filter...

I ran Rotella on 5k OCIs with a single Amsoil bypass (EaBP100) on for 30k... as long as you're comfortable leaving what oil is in the filter in the system at your oil changes, you can run them until they plug off... saves a lot of $$ since the filters are costly.

I agree... and yes the dual remote... The stand alone bypass is a non-issue.

I got a reply today from Amsoils tech guy.

Here is what he said:

There is not as issue with the BMK25 system on the 2004 and newer Dodge Cummins engine. The issue was with the BMK15Ea system. That system caused a check engine light to come on. If there is a specific case you have where a BMK25 system is not working correctly please let me know. If you can get the specifics such as how much hose is being used, which filters or even pictures of the installation that would be great.

With that Said. If you want to get me pictures and some info about how your setup is plumbed I will be glad to pass it along to them and see what they have to say.

Thank you very much for extending your help. I have the BMK-25 on my truck and my friend has it on two 06 rams. All three of our trucks do the same exact thing. Two of them are mounted behind the front bumper with approximately two feet of hose on the feed and return. The third truck's system was mounted on the frame behind the cab. The two trucks have the problem once to twice per week. The truck with the system mounted on the frame with the LONGER hose has the problem almost every start. Common sence tells me that it takes a longer time for the oil to travel thru the longer lines. My friend has been in touch with Brandon in the tech department of Amsoil and they have been helpful, but told him that this is the first they have herd of this with the new BMK-25. I have to be honest, I am a little skeptical of this statement. He also sent pics of the installs and they checked out ok. I can hear my engine tapping and sounding loud and ruff during this five to ten second period and then it smoothens out and sounds normal. I don't care what anyone tells me, I don't like it and i will be returning the 25 and trading it in for a single or an FS.

Best Regards,

Sasha

Well I'm sorry to hear of your problems with the system. If you have been in contact with them I won't interfere and make it more difficult. I just thought that if I could help at all I would.

Keep us updated on what happens and if you get this resolved.

Thanks, Joe
