I've had my eye's open for a 8. 3 for about 6 months ever since I first read the post on this project , nothing yet thou #@$%! C-series-man that fabricated brace on the front of your F350 would that be nessessary on all brands (trucks)... Peter

Hey C-Series Man, is this engine large enough for a real "engine" brake ?

There is not a compression brake or "real jake brake" available for a C. I am using an exhaust retarder.

I have a white 3000 coe that appears to fit an 8. 3 and I located an engine in florida the problem is finding an od transmission as my rear is 4. 1 and tires are 31" tall. I have a brownie box . 73 od which gets me half way but still need an od could be less than 9 speed. Cheap is good as this is being done on tax refund,if cost is to high I will complete next spring. phil

I drive a Eaton/Fuller 9 speed over for a buddy. I don't know what the overdrive ratio is, but the 9 speeds are common as dirt, and I assume it isn't too hard to find the 9 speed over units. On the overdrive units the shift pattern is 1-4/button up/1-5. On the direct models I've driven shift pattern is 1-5/button up/2-5.

Due to the rear I have I need an od of . 55 to get highway speeds and the cabover makes shift linkages difficult so I am going back to plan 1 5. 9 with allison automatic and brownie box. I will save my 8. 3 for a different project. This makes it easier for the wife to drive on road trips.
