Am getting close to deciding on a new 2002, but the one I am considering has CA emissions. What does that gain or cost me? Its an HO/ 6 speed.

Thanks,

I have one and do not believe there is any hit for Ca. emissions, at least on a 02; do not wait for the 03 Ca. version though, the same definitely cannot be said.

Not true- as far as I know ALL California trucks use a different ECM/PCM. It is "toned" down to comply with emissions and I beleive has reduced power as such. I personally will be buying my next truck (whenever that may be) out of state for those reasons.

Got my 01 in Kalifornia........

And personally I think it was a dog out of the factory. A little bombing changed all that.

We went to Texas to get the 02. Saved over $3K from what the dealers here wanted on the same truck plus it feels way stronger than my 01 ever was. Had to wait till we had 7500 miles on it though to register it. I guess they consider that used. What the heck saved on six months of overpriced registration fees.

Make sure you tell them it was driven temporarily in the other state though. They have hefty fines if you drove it in state without registering it, even though they wont let you!! Catch-22.

I heard somewhere that the CA power hit on the ETH DEE was in the neighborhood of 10 hp and 10 ftlbs. Not sure where I heard it, but I have one and I feels right anyways.
