Does anyone know of a good place to get to the cab lighting circuit?

I would like to connect a couple running board lights up to the keyless entry. A relay to change negative switching and carry the added load might be necessary.

Any Ideas?

I did that

I have a Y2K 3500,I have J&J lighted stainless running boards.

The lights are amber except for one under each front door that is

clear(frosted).

I hooked into the pink wire coming off the back of the headlight switch. These two lights now work with the dome and map lights.

They come on when disarming and unlocking with remote,go out when arming with remote,on with doors open. Would guess that

you wire would be same color.

As near as I could figure, had to tap in at the headlight switch,so they would retain all the functions. I tried the wire to the doorjamb

switch. . only worked with door opening. Hope this helps.

Getting old

I just went out and looked at my notes. . It is the YELLOW

wire on the back of headlight switch. NOT pink

I did not use a relay for these two lites. Haven't seemed to matter.

On the Amber lites I tapped into the Trailer tow wire. It runs along

side the frame. It is blk/org. This wire has a relay in the PDC.

Boy, I did this right after I got the pickup. . That's 2yrs ago and I have trouble remembering what I went into the garage for. Like someone here said I could hide my own Easter Eggs.

The notes say Yellow... I am going to pull the darn headlight switch and make sure. If it is different,I will let you know.

Please don't go through all that trouble Fuzz.

I'll start at the dash switch and see what I find. I'm concerned about this neg. switching I've read about here and there.

I was hoping someone had a wiring diagram that would give me a nice easy terminal strip located with-in arms reach somewhere close to waist height that I could plug into. ;) Oh well

Thanks

It's yellow

I pulled the switch and it is the yellow wire. I just tapped into it no relay. I sent you an Email.

Got if figured .....finally

I went out and decided I better update some wiring diagrams.

Darn,I wish I would learn to do that when I add something.

Anyway,

The Yellow wire behind headlight swith. . is a ground. I tapped into it and went to the two entrance lights on running boards.

For power. . I have the painless wiring module. . so I used one those ckts. . The painless has a relay ... so the power is relayed.

For the Amber lights I hooked them into the wire from the PDC (Relay)that feeds the trailer running lights... . BK/OR.

Sorry for shooting from the hip... but thanks for getting me off my duff and doing something I should of done 2 yrs ago.

I have even penciled in my clearance light flasher switch in the manual.

let me know how it all works out.

see ya
