Is your '04. 5 "quirky"? Mine has a bunch of quirks that have been driving me nuts for a couple years. Occassional miss going down the road and inability to build boost when it's cold outside to name a couple.

I've posted numerous time here but no one seems to have any real answers. I blame the programming 'cause nothing else makes any sense either.

i Have a Auto that pauses some times when i take off from a stop. and i have a 6speed that has a little miss ever once and a while both 04. 5

None to really speak of here. It has a slight miss/hesitation while idling, but has no effect on it any other time.

I have the occasional miss/hesitation at idle. No other problems. It seems most frequent when you are at a stop light etc just after you get off the freeway.

The only quirks on mine were self inflicted by me. Otherwise I have close to 79k and no issues. But with all the stuff loaded, plugged in and bolted on now I wouldn't know if it was basic truck issue or my ignorance.

two squeaky belts within 60,000.

A/C blower motor quits when I lower the steering wheel all the way down. The center a/c vents blow warmer than the others when the a/c is on.

My brothers 04. 5 is in the shop right now for a similar problem. The miss got worse & worse over time until one day it just started knocking really loud. Took it to the dealer & they said It was a bad injector. Got it back & still had a slight miss here & there, but one morning when the weather got cold it wouldn't start. Took it to Advanced Diesel Technology & Doug sent the injectors out to be tested, found 5 more bad injectors. The dealership said it was only one, but ADT had them tested & the other 5 were not flowing within spec either. Glad ADT knows what they are doing!

Like my 2004. 5 way more than my 2001. 5... . way more room, quieter ride, far more power stock, (much better with Smarty:-laf). Had my lift pump and ECM quit at the same time, was fixed under warranty by dealer. No problems since, just under 30K at this time, so the engine is not really broken in yet.

The only quirk mine has had in 60,000 miles is the horn stuck and the horn pads on the steering wheel had to be replaced. Otherwise I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!

Currently, I have 55K miles on my truck and have had very few issues. As many others, I have the rear axle whine... which the dealer inspected and said there's nothing wrong, it's "normal".

Also, the lift pump failed at about 50K miles. I replaced with the GDP/Walbro kit and all is great. In fact, after installing the kit my irratic idle smoothed out.

Having so few problems is attributed to this site, the TDR members. The info obtained from this site allows us to be proactive, preventing failures. Sadly, because of where I live, I've had to, despite having a warranty, correct the failures myself. The nearest Dodge dealership's service/support is dismal at best.

I want to give a big thanks to all who have posted their problems and solutions in this forum... THANKS!!! Take care.

For the most part, this truck has been great!. Had it back once to the dealer for the door seals and thats all. On the whole I never cared much for this 48RE trans as I thought the old 518 was much smoother and was well over 100,000 miles with lots of towing. This is twice the truck though and the Wife loves to drive it compared to the old one. This should say something alone.

Mine's been nearly perfect for 60K. I do have the occasional low RPM miss. A loose battery cable, probably my fault, and a loose connection of one of the wires somewhere causing a fault to show but I don't remember now what it was except that it was on the dash and not a CEL.
