St. Louis build. My VW Passat I sold to buy this truck was flawless. This has me very much down on American vehicle makers and based on this experience, my wife's new car and my next will not be American cars sorry to say :(

Funny you say that! Who else (other than American companies) makes a 2500/3500 truck with a diesel? The foreigners can't compete in this field! Heard a news story recently that Toyota RECALLED more vehicles last year than it sold!! The Japanese make "some" good vehicles, but most of them are worthless for anything more than riding around in.

German vehicles (BMW, Mercedes and some Volkswagons) seem to be good vehicles and at least are or soon will be available with diesel power.

No other country has yet to offer a truck that can tow a 10 ton trailer, comfortably haul 6 people, outrun most vehicles on the road and still get 18-20 mpg (unloaded)!!! I have loved every Dodge I have owned (1993 250 4x4, 1996 3500 4x4(still have), (2) 1998 3500's and my current 2003. Overall, the 2003 is my favorite. All have been nearly flawless and NO engine troubles, except for the KDP on my current 1998 work truck. Clutches and auto trannies seem to be the weak links...
Your right, I apologize. I didnt want it to come off as an attack, but I obviously worded it wrong. Plus I think I lost track of where I was goin as I typed and twisted it all weird. I guess my point was don't let one truck turn you off of American rides for good; I bet you could go get another '03 and be happy with it. Again, my apologies for goin off; now that I think about it I was off base.
Thank you for the apology I appreciate it :) . Another thing that makes this discussion forum great, the people who visit. No worries.

My 03 has about 32,000 on it and I like it. It has the auto trans. Front brake pads went at 29,000. (lot of town driving) I Had a power steering leak at about 15,000. The A/c condenser has very small leak and requires one can of free-on a year. The engine came into its own with the "Edge tow module". (worth every dollar) .

I get 15 to 16 in town and about 12mpg towing my 35 ft Alpha trailer. It has ample room in the rear for my large son and you cant hear the diesel at freeway speeds.

I would buy it again if I had to. I had a gas 98 Chevy 454 gas Pu before . It got 8 mpg towing and 12 not towing. I would never go back to gas.

The diesel is all most bullet proof. I get better mileage than my wifes mini van . I think you would like it If you got one. Dan
