Campgrounds in/near Monterrey California and NPS

I have camped in the tuskegee national forest just east of Montgomery... it was pretty nice actually...

My wife and I stayed several days at an RV park north of Montgomery recently. I think the name was Capital City RV Park.

Yooper, how far are you willing to be from Montgomery?

Wind Creek is nice.

We stayed here at Prairie Creek. The Alabama river side is a lot cooler in the summer. It is in the sticks.

If my request goes through, I'll be going to school at Maxwell AFB for 11 months. My preference would be as close to Maxwell as possible--within 10-20 minutes if possible. I'm thinking about living in the RV during this time. Wife and kids will be at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA while I'm in school.

What I'm looking for is a half way decent park which is somewhat quiet and safe as a back up plan in case the campground on base (FAMCAMP) is full and I can't get in there.

Capitol city rv park is located on the north side of Montgomery, much traffic. Your base is on the southwest side of Montgomery.

Priarie creek is 30 miles west and beside Hwy. 80. Your base is beside Hwy. 80 also. Priarie creek is C. O. E and has no sewage hookups. It is nice and quite with a very nice playground. Right on the river.

The Maxwell FAMCAMP "reserves" many campsites for Students. Suggest you contact them directly. I never heard of a student not getting accommodated, but regular campers get the short end as a result (speaking from former AU Faculty experience)...

Probably the closest / handy commercial campground is "K&K" at the Prattville exit (east) off 1-65 and its close to the HWY as its on an "access rd". They're also a dealer.

A rural campground in Prattville opened a few years ago - don't know about its current status.

Good luck!

PS,

The campground in Prattville's ("Kountryaire") website is gone.

Also, an even closer campground at HWY 80/South Blvd is "The Woods". Not the best area, but its near Bus Station/Truckstop, Fast Food Strip, hookers, etc.
