Hi guys: And A happy halloween. Can anyone tell me what is most likely going one with my breaks? They are just fine at speed. but when I slowly stop for a light or for any reason. The pedal gets very hard to press down. If I have to hit the breaks fast, they work great. But ir I can slow down in time, I will creep up to the intersection on a slow roll. That's when the pedal gets hard on me. I suspected the vacuum pump, and went to NAPA to get a price on a REBUILT one :--) $486. 00!!!!! So here I am trying to save the money. Any help?? Sorry guys, I posted this in the wrong place. Ignor this one please

2nd gens have hydroboost.

Get yourself a vacuum gauge and pull the line going to your brake booster. Plug the gauge in here and start her up. You should be reading a pretty good vacuum if you pump is good. Mine reads about 25" vacuum at idle. I think the manual says you should at least have 10" at idle. Any less than that could indicate it is your pump. Otherwise, I would suspect the brake booster. I have had major problems with rebuilt boosters. I have had several that were bad right off the shelf.

Sound like the vacume is low. On my 93 I turned the idle down too low and on a hill at 600 rpms the brake pedal is rock hard from low vacume...

I have just leared to expect it
