I understand the '01. 5 trucks have gone back to the HX35 Turbo housings... so that only the '01 model year has the little HY35 9cm housing. This seems to indicate that DC (or cummins) now recognizes a problem.

Can we get DC to take our HY's back and replace with HXs? I haven't exactly overheated, but it's not hard to get those EGT's way up there. I was hitting 1120 degrees on a nice long incline (stock and empty!) Thats too high.

'01 auto owners unite! Let's get them to replace these things!

------------------
'01 2500 SLT+, QC, LWB, 4X4, 3. 54s, AT, SPA guages, Alpha Liner, every option but running lights!

'98 DUCATI ST2 "Bombed" 944CC with Ducati Performance Carbon Fiber Exhaust, F. I. M. Chip, K&N and "modified" air box.

Scooby--I also have the same question. I meant to call Cummins SW today, (in Albuquerque), and verify the different turbos for the 2K1 trucks (early vs late), and it flat out slipped my mind. (getting old). BUT-I'm with you, my '01 auto runs too damn hot, and I'm gonna push somebodys buttons 'til I get an answer. You do the same on your end, as well, as you suggested, EVERYBODY start calling DC &/or Cummins to light a fire under their butts. What can they do? Get pissed? Geeeze, what a shame. This needs to be dealt with 'en mass, as the excessive heat will shorten the engines life-big time. DC will probably take the stand that they will deal with the problem as it occurs individually. AND==probably try to blame any failures on the owner. We need to document ALL the '01 autos that are running too hot, so we have a history of the problem, and maybe call the customer service board that is part of DC's QC comittee. The POINT IS, we have to do this as a large group, or DC will just blow us off! Whachyouthink????? PS and also, somebody needs to look at a "late" 2001. 5 truck and verify the turbo change at a dealers or?? Maybe a proud new owner will let you under his hood? We need to get after this with both feet-- now!

<font color=blue>Gimmie a phone number to call and I will call. I will probably end up going to a different turbo anyhow, but willing to tell DC and Cummins I want a different turbo too. #ad

What size housing are they putting on the HX35's on the new Auto's? 10cm&sup2;? 12cm&sup2;?

Hey guys, John McIntyre, (from England), has posted another like thread over in "Engines & Drivetrains". We need to gang together on this. We need the attention of a MODERATOR!

So is that whats causing the overheating problem I'm having???
Damn, I was about to change the thermostat too.
Seems like any little incline will cause the temp gauge to get up past 190 in a hurry, causing me to pull over and let it cool down.
And this is totally unloaded!!!
If we gotta send letters and emails, count me in.

Jesse.
