It's right next to the OBDII port under the dash. It's got a small push button on it, and it's mounting appears to be adjustable via the 2 screws.

Anyone identify this part? Trucks a brand new 2014 6.7 2500 Tradesman

I assume by "new" you drove it off the lot literally new? Did they install an aftermarket remote start for you? with an alarm or something? Doesn't look like a factory install or part. Don't have one on my 2014 longhorn.

It had 13 miles when I drove it off the lot. No remote start, no alarm. I'm stumped as to what it could be

Have you asked there dealer ? It appears to be after market. Was it on the sales papers ? Also, if the dealer sells it to you new, they should give you paperwork on it. And when they sold you a new vehicle, they should have walked you through everything before giving you the keys. That's what happen every time I bought a new vehicle.

Its possible its a security device, here in SoCal the dealers will install such devices, or as in the last two Toyota's I bought they installed the OEM alarm. Before the contract was finished we were asked if we wanted to pay for the option, and if not they removed it. Its possible it was disconnected after the sale and someone forgot to remove the hardware.

I think RVTRKN is right. When I bought my '98 it had a similar device. During the test drive, my wife pulled it into our garage to be sure it would fit, and shut it down. It wouldn't start back up and we had to call the dealer to send someone out with the electronic key to drive back to finish the paper work. We elected not to buy the extra cost security item. A friend with a Ford truck has a similar device.

It looks like the drove screws into the plastic. I'd be TICKED!

It is an aftermarket alarm or tracking device. Some dealers install on every car and try and sell it because it is already on there. I'm OK with the tracking devices for dealers security, but the alarms are just a complete waste of money on today's vehicles with SKIM keys. They have caused me way more trouble than they have helped customers. They can sometimes tap into wires they shouldn't and they many times kick off RFI that causes trouble with tire pressure monitors. Can you follow the wires and see where or what colors they tapped into?

Yup, my 04.5 had an aftermarket alarm installed before my purchase, and I elected to purchase it at the time of the sale. BUT it failed on me and I couldn't start the truck, had to have it towed to a dealer, not the selling dealer, and not knowing it was the alarm locking out the ignition. The dealer charged me $80.00 just to tell me they found it to be the Alarm and bypassed it until I could get it back to the original dealer.

The worst part was the tow truck driver was going to bumper pull it and had it on the lift ready to tow it. "Hey, it's a 4X4, I exclaimed, don't you need to have all four tires off the ground?" and he agreed with me and set up the tow dolly for the rear tires. If my wife had been the one that it happened to, he would of towed from the front only.

So it appears I did get some sort of dealer add on anti theft device. It came with the extended warranty package I bought. I totally spaced that.

I guess thats what the part is for. I would like to know how it operates. Will have to ask next time at the dealer.

It's not easy to see, or really all that noticeable. I didn't catch it until yesterday and I've had the truck for more than a month.

But I do agree, It looks a little tacky.
