Can you still get the inexpensive part number for the 6.7 damper to retrofit a 5.9?

I was able to order the 6.7 harmonic damper Mopar Part number 68005166AA for $260 with tax. (From my local fleabay dealer: avondalewholesaleparts.com ) It shows as a current Mopar part number, however, the box that arrived was dated Dec 2013 and is Cummins Part number 4933224: that # is superseded on Cummings parts sites to 5285679 at a whopping $584!

Prior phone calls to Cummings parts has this part superseded, but, Mopar says this is the current Mopar number although due to low stock the superseded part number changes. I hope it wasn't the last affordable one out there.

Best I can tell the other parts like the fan pulley are the same and still cheaper from Cummins.

Due credit and part number references to:

That is the frustration: finding the inexpensive part number. I used other Mopar online stores like moparpartsoverstock.com to verify part numbers and price, then contacted my local online dealer to make sure it was available and then had them order it in. Only reason I did that is in case it went on back-order so I would have a local place to work through that. All online dealers I contacted said they had to order it in and the 1 in stock could mean "out of stock" but could still be ordered from the factory.

Humm... what do you make of this? 68143868AA replaces 68005166AA and its around $230. So is the 68143868AA an equal quality fluid damper or a lesser rubber damper?

Just one example of the online pricing: https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fus...le=-Ram-2500-3500-Auto-Trans-VIBRATION-DAMPER

I've had both (I have the higher priced HO model now) and would say it is in between those two types.
It is not nearly as good as a genuine Fluid Master but it doesn't have all the noisy draw backs either.
