I bought a key for my 2008 Laramie that doesn't have the push buttons on it. The dealer programmed it for me, but I have the following problem. When I lock the truck with the door lock switch inside the truck, then unlock it manually with the key, the alarm sounds. I knew this would be the case if I locked it with the button on the original key, but did not expect it with the inside door lock. The dealer knows of no workaround.

Does anyone have a workaround or a mod that would solve this problem?

I'm surprised that there is not more outcry over this HUGE key that you have to carry around in your pocket. I would even be willing to disable the alarm if I could find out how. Any ideas?

Here is another wildcard on the 2008... ... no matter how you lock the door, if you wait more than 30-seconds and then use that transponder key to unlock the door(not the Factory remote lock key) you will trigger the alarm until you put the transponder key into the igintion switch.

Here is another one: using your factory remote / key or manually lock the door - go away and return more than 30-seconds after it is locked and use the original key manually to unlock the door versus the remote to unlock the door - my alarm sounds if I use the KEY versus the remote. What a crock... ... . #@$%!

I have come up with a workaround. It's not perfect, but it works. With the key in the ignition and the driver's door open, actuate the inside door lock switch. All the doors will lock except the driver's door (to keep you from locking your key in the car). Remove your key, push the lock down on the driver's side door and close. Alarm is not actuated and you can unlock with the non-remote keyless entry key without the noise. Best I can do for now.
