I went to the dealer today for my 6000 mile oil change and mentioned that the white smoke problem was not getting any better. Well, the rocket scientest at the dealer told me to ditch the converter! I asked if it would cause any warranty issues and he said NO. Now, how many of you out there have disposed the cat converter on your rig? did you notice an increase in mileage? Was there less white smoke? My guess is that this is the dealers way to get out of fixing a common problem with all the 600-610 Cummins. . Comments??? I think I may give it a try at the local muffler shop, by having the converter cut off and fittings welded on to each end. Then having a pipe with the same fittings welded together and bolted into the place of the converter. Then, should I ever get stupid and move to an area that actually makes you smog your car, Ill be able to reinstall the converter with 4 bolts. I would really like some comments. I would also like anyone of you out there that are associated with a Dodge dealer and see if your dealer has a problem with removing the converter. . Thanks in advance!
