My new improved cc works every bit as good as new, maybe even better.

You must have some wimpy ridiculus small injectors in that engine.

With bigger injectors the CC becomes a useless pile of junk...

Believe me... :-laf :-laf

Thinking about it...

KatDiesel will receive his ECM today.

Will it work this time?

I bet a beer it will.

Any takers? Oo.

Marco

It is indeed here. Have to pick the littleone up from daycare and then get some early dinner and swap them out. Even tho he sent it out Tuesday it feels like I have been waiting 2 weeks since he told me he fixed it..... LOL, I kept checking the UPS website Tuesday and Wed... ... ... ... ... :-laf

I let 2 other members drive my truck yesterday and it was all #ad

needless to say expect another shipment marco x 4 :)

3rd Gen ECM suggestion

Murle,

that's a very good question!

I've already done some tuning on them and think that something like a "Third Gen CaTCHER " is not too far away. With all the tuning I've done on the second gens... . The Common Rail SW looks somewhat uhm... could I dare to say, Known?

What I need now for the next step in R&D is a CR ECM to play with. I'm searching but without result. Sooner or later... .

Marco

Who knows how much one is brand new from a dealer with, say, a shop discount? A lot, a couple thousand, more? A new one would have to be flashed, I believe prior to any work. I don't know if there are any totalled 3rd gens in salvage yards. How many people would be willing to supply a Franklin to the cause to get the R&D going? I'm in. I'm kinda more interested in going backwards with the flash in my ECM to understand the emissions thing and poor mileage associated with 600s. A smart guy like Marco would probably have a chuckle once he sees the fueling maps.

3rd time is the charm. It works..... gonna shower, grab the littleone and go grab dinner for the test drive. Just started ran it... revved it and looked for codes.

got mine installed tonight and all i can say is AMAZING!!!! :--) marco, my cruise control doesn't work but who would want to use it? :D i have a big turbo and a large set of injectors and i would have to hammer it with the boxes on to get 45#'s of boost and now i can get 45 with just the catcher. i haven't even turned the boxes on yet because i'm having way too much fun. for anyone sitting on the fence, this is the upgrade to have. if i had to get rid of anything i would let everything go before this ecm. all i can say is thank you for making such a good product. for people with large injectors, getting use to the driving habits is not hard, because we have already adapted, but make no mistake about it, you can press the go pedal and turn out the lights on a 4 lane road. :-laf

Well lets see, where to start... ... ... ... ... .

First off, I have to say even though this was a "bumpy" road to getting a working ECM, Marco & Doug were both trying to do their best to get it corrected. Marco handled my ECM three times. It turns out it was partly my fault as I had a bad ECM but was unaware of it. It was advertised as a 2000 model year so I never tried it in my truck. It bench tested for Marco fine... . but when it went into my truck no go, flashing "Wait to Start" light. So after sending my ECM directly to Marco, he checked it out and found out the ECM was bad. But he didn't stop there, he pondered on it and poked around until he found a bad 5 volt regulater and some burned traces, and repaired them! And he learned something in the process regarding bench testing the ECM's. After testing my ECM in his truck overnight he then felt comfortable enough to send it back to me with the correct software for my truck. I shipped it Express to him, and he Expressed it back to me, attached was more then enough to cover my part of the shipping to him. What more can I say other then thank you? I'm literally at a loss for words... ... ... ... he could have just left it at a "bad ECM", but he didn't. My hat is off to you Marco... ... ...

Now onto the short test drive... ... ... ... . wow. The truck just "glides" upto speed now, I mean I am at the speed limit and over much faster then before. Smoke so far is manageable but traffic was kinda crowded, it got to 70mph real quick, found myself using alot more brakes. Even idle sounded good, and a few quick revs and it sounded mean. Driving it seemed to sound the same only moved faster. I didn't get to check Cruise, I didn't get to watch EGT's closely... ..... but it makes a difference. Truck just wants to move now. Bear in mind I have Mach 4's, 4. 10, Kwikspool B1, 93% DTT TC, 285/75/16 tires.

I can't wait to goto work now

That's what I thought when my cc didn't work. I'd gladly give up cc to drive with the CaTCHER :D Now that Marco found the right file, I get the pizza with all the toppings :-laf It sounds like you have a similar,. . can I call it a problem.

Eric, That is sweet, happy to hear it works for your truck. Now you can try to explain the difference and offer member tets rides.

It simply works... :-laf

Marco, my cruise control works perfect on my early 01.

I never use it except on the way to the palouse

But yesterday when I offered to let another member drive my truck, his comment was cruise control works just fine. (he knew what he was looking for)

So it may just be a

I am holding off till my brother finds me a spare ECM. If I go to the dealer or any other thing that requires a stock ECM I do not want to be up a creek. If we could flash it ourselves or at a speed shop that would be great.

A question for the people that have a MAD Ecm... ...

- when you mash the throttle, and you come up on boost (2000RPM - 3400RPM) does the truck accelerate smoothly? Once mine comes to life it feels a little jerky as it goes through the powerband

Let's see where to start?

Most important, RCone your ECM is here, CaTCHERized, tested & ready. I'll ship it back today you could get it on Monday(?). I'll send you a PM with the TRK#.

Smittybuild,

You have PM.

The CC problem. Right now I can only guess what's wrong but I think it's still the electronic CC. If so then that ECM has been worked on before I got Darkhorse's here to find out about it. Up to date the only problem(s) with the CC was the 2001's electronic ones. (Found only in ETH's???)

You will tell me...

KatDiesel,

Test that ECM for a few days. It's a repaired unit... First find out if it keeps on working, then we'll see further. I have no doubt it will work but as everybody knows here, I've been wrong before... :-laf :-laf

I already have that SW. With some testing I'm sure I can A) turn off the third injection B) increase it for some crazy hp numbers... .

Smart boy??? WHO? Me??? Nahhhh... . I'm just a guy like the one next to you!

I NEED at least one programmed CR ECM to go further... . :(

Bob, you have PM... . :D

Let's work on the smoke thing a little more!

I say it is possible to drive HARD without smoke...

Yup, that's with my truck and my injectors.

Over the years I've tested a lot of different injectors from almost all major brands you've got there. I liked company X better than others because I felt that their injectors were higher quality than the other ones. Higher quality means for me same performance but less smoke. I ended getting EDM'ed injectors ( handmade to HIGHEST standards ) build by... I still can't tell you where I got 'em from. It's a company here in Europe... .

Well these injectors are about the specs of the "supermentals" ( Hp wise ).

With the stock SW in my ECM they hardly produce any smoke. A light haze when it's in the 90's or higher...

With these injectors and the CaTCHER I can produce a major smoke show but I can also drive hard without any.

I guess it all boils down to what kinda injectors you have in your truck.

Later,

Marco

Ops,

I think this is an important one!

Smokin Joe sez,

If I go to the dealer or any other thing that requires a stock ECM I do not want to be up a creek.

The ECM with the CaTCHER in it IS like a stock ECM!

No way a dealer could find out other than driving the truck. The DRBIII or whatever system they might use will N E V E R find out anything about the CaTCHER being in there. I've spend a lot of time to R&D that aspect!

Using the latest reflashes ( like I do ) does not allow the dealer to reflash the ECM. They can't see the CaTCHER calibration. What else does it need to call it an "Original ECM" ?

I could say the same thing even with my wimpy little 1. 5 EDM's

:-laf

Horses?!?

I could say the same thing even with my wimpy little 1. 5 EDM's

Dark HORSE,

I don't see too many horses... .

Correct me if I'm wrong, last time I saw a horse I noticed that these animals have rather biggie "injectors". LMAO :-laf :-laf :-laf

Maybe you should change your name into something like Dark Pony???? :D :D

Sorry just couldn't resist... LOL
