Bob,

Mine says 02/auto/federal "Special" on the hand written tag that is taped to the ECM. Now maybe it isnt really Special at all, however, It is marked as special.

BTW Edge states that the Comp and Drag Comp are IDENTICAL to one another except for the fact that on 5X5 the Drag Comp fuels beyond 2700 RPM. So why would the Drag comp need to be any more special. Or is it either Comp that needs the "Special" ECM

Ok, my question is I have a stock '99 auto, I need more power at low rpms and mainly to pull trailers.

Will this work for me or will be better get another fueling box ?

Val, we are practically neighbors. I'm 80 miles down the Mississippi from you. I pull a heavy steel horse trailer & find the CaTCHER works very well for that.

Power below around 1700 RPM is not necessarily the best thing for an auto transmission/TC, as line pressure in the transmission is low at or below that RPM. I personally do not roll the power on until around 18-1900 and down shift as RPMs are coming down to the range the other direction while pulling hills. So what good is a lot of low RPM power in an Auto truck? SNOKING

Back in the saddle again!

If I were to have taken a more strategic approach, I would have swapped the Comp for a TST or APB with the standard catcher flash. I have no problem with my Comp in fact it has been a lot of fun! However the other combos seem to be a better suited match.

I missed the mailman to sign for my catcher delivery today, but I found him 4 blocks away :-laf

Installation went exactly like it is supposed to with no problems, finally! The truck is running great, boy this sure feels good. Next up, reconnect the secondary pusher pump wiring. If that goes well, I will have the drag comp back in later tonight or tomorrow morning. WOOHOO Oo.

BOB and MARCO, NEW DEVELOPMENT

Well for the heck of it I pulled codes from the truck and to my suprise I have 3 that seem to follow the new Catcher.

0501

0602

0521

The 0501 shows nowhere I can find?

The 0602 looks like a checksum problm with the ECM. I searched the forums and it looks like a problem that supertuner users used to see when a bad programming load went in to the ECM

The 0521 shows nowhere I can find either.

I would speculate that there might be a bad load in the ECM but maybe Marco knows best.

I just hope that this can be resolved. I would like to give the Catcher an honest shake and it looks like it might be ILL. :{

Is your Wait To Start light working?

The 0501 and 0602 codes have been present when I lost my WTS. Disconnected my POSITIVE cables for couple of hours... . turn the ignition key to "run", and then reconnect the cables. Codes cleared and WTS returned. Marco says if this doesn't work, there's a problem with the ECM.

WTS light works just fine. Went back to original ECM and get no codes, Reinstalled CaTCHER and the codes are back. It is definately in the Catcher. I can only assume this might be contributing to the problem. however, I cant be sure. I am just trying to rationalize why others have it working fine yet some dont with the COMPS.

Steven, the o602 is just a nuisance code since the catcher ecm is working outside of the stock ecm parameters.

I will take a look at 0577, its not in my book

Do you think I can clear them with a programmer? My only concern is if, or should I say when, I get the 0216, and I have to take it to the dealer. It might raise a concern with them. I could just see them saying "we think your ECM is bad".

Truck is running great... I'm headed out to the shop to install the new lift pump and get some good fuel psi, then I can really test the CaTCHER.

Wow

Well, I guess I must be crazy. . I just spent the better part of a week reading this entire thread and all 1,617 posts. About half of that was on a dial up connection. Actually got high speed just so I could read this. . Just kidding. Anyway, I have an 01 HO 6 spd that is basically stockIt is straight piped and has guages. I'm planning on new clutch first then a TST 3 box and now after reading this, the CAtcher. Mostly just a daily driver, but I do tow a 9000# enclosed tool trailer and a 33' tag-a-long camper that weighs 10K. My question is, will the above mods be good for what I'm doing without needing injectors right away??

Bob, what is the turn around time to get a CAtcher? Do I have to send out mine or can I just order one up from you? My ECM was just replaced by the dealer in late March and I really didn't want to give it up just yet. I'm a little concerned about the problems I've read about with the 01 trucks. Well, the 01. 5, Mine is the rear disc brakes and I don't think it's a CA truck. I bought it used from the original owner in PA last year with 77K on it. Now has just under 100K

Thanks for any answers.

Bill

Bill, I should be receiving another shipment of catcher ecm's from marco next week.

I do have cores available, so you can keep your stocker.

Let me know.

I've got a 2001. 5 truck. My trailer with a couple of horses in it weights around 7,000 lbs. With mach 1. 5 injectors, I can't turn my APB up more than 1/3 of the was without leaving a thin haze streaming from the tail pipe when I charge up a steep grade. I think your will have plenty of power with a CaTCHER & TST without bigger injectors. Frankly, I'd suggest the injectors before the TST. They are more work to install but the power delivery is smoother & they tend to run cooler.
