ECM

Couldn't we do this on a core basis? Get several to send for the initial round of flashed, the 'buyers' return them to be sent off for reflashing,... Advanced Diesel would have to just collect info & $$'s. If someone wanted to keep their original ECM they wouldn't get a refund.

If reflash costs $499, charge $150 - $200 for the core.

Rambling thoughts,

Jay

There's a rather obvious need for SOME sort of plan - not many guys want to spend the extra $$$$ for a "spare" ECM, OR face the downtime sending their units off to Italy involves...

Bob Wagner,

A thought... ... just suppose for curiosity's sake, that I was willing to drive my old '72 Impala sans a/c whilst my ECM were off tooling thru the waters to Italy.

What would be the anticipated round trip time including Marco's free time to do the reflash?

Curious minds want to know? :)

8 WEEKS... ... :--)

I might have considered this if it was 4 or 5. Only way I can do it is if you guys get a core thing going. Otherwise I'll just have to suffer with 500 HP. ;)

Jay, That is my plan. If I can help marco and doug pull it off.

A couple more thoughts...

How about a 'discount' if you supply your own 'core' up front & return one (the original one in truck) after receiving the upgraded version. Maybe limit it to the first *X* customers, to help prime the system;) .

Include a return shipping label with each unit so that it is easy to return core. The type that is already addressed, all the buyer has to do is swap ECMs, reseal box, stick on label & call the carrier.

The other way to do the core charge is like the insurance company that replaced my broken cell phone: Pay $Y fir replacement unit. If old unit isn't returned with in x days (2 weeks after shipping say) the additional $200 'core' charge is charged to CC that original $Y was charged to.

Another ?

What are the plans regarding upgrades?

Like when marco figures out the rev limit under load or comes up with some other new & improved firmware version.

Jay

I'd be willing to spend $1500 on a new ECM ... and whatever you're planning to charge

I'm sure half the folks sitting on the sidelines watching this thread with interest are willing to mortgage their homes. I'm willing to pay what ever you want PLUS postage. :D Quick, somebody give me a dope slap, please. :)

Pssst, you got to play coy, hard to get, you know ... . put on the poker face.

looks like an ecm on ebay fixing to go off in 2hrs. price is like 50 or 70 bucks. just thought someone might be interested. under motors/parts accessories/car and truck/ then put dodge diesel in the search bar and check title and descriptions.

Price has doubled in th elast few minutes. Item # 7907249395, I just hope noone buys the PCM he also has listed right below it, thinking its an ECM... ... which is why I provided the item number.

Makes me feel better and better about the one I scored several months ago for $55.

That ECM is now mine!Oo. Oo. I was hoping to get a steal but with all the interest in Marco's wizardry I'm happy to pay what I did. I sure didn't want to have to fork over $1500 for a new one. Now, Bob, tell me again where I'll be sending this thing to wait shipment across the big pond?

eBay bidding SOAPBOX Editorial

Yes,

What I have feared is exactly what is happening... . :( :(

FOLKS... ... when bidding on eBay, and especially on these ECMs now that Marco has created a new market for them.

Please wait until the last 2-3 minutes to enter your bids.

Those who wait, will get a winning bid at the lowest possible value.

If you bid early on in the game, AND set a MAX bid higher than the one currently listed... . You will have started a bidding war that will cause the newbie to auctions to get really sucked into paying a LOT more for an item than they wanted to... all for the sake of "winning".

If we sort of agree on a gentleman's agreement on what these things should be worth; and I have heard folks buying them consistently for UNDER $100. 00 Oo.

Well, then we can all obtain them without paying an exorbitant price. They are only going to show up as supply dictates anyway.

I may be only talking to hear my fingers rattle the keys, but effective auctions, at a good price, are won in the last minute, not in the early stages where you have notified the world of your interest.

 My advice is to cool it... Don't tip your hand before the last couple of minutes. Make a decision on your price, watch the clock, and submit it.

Tonight, I watched dkhorse's name pop up consistently thru the bidding. Apparently he had made a bid with a high max price early in the bidding process. It was at $202. 50 until 30 seconds before end time and it went to 242. 50, like bang. Someone made him pay more than what I am willing to pay.

I only bid ONCE, and one time only. That is in the last minute. I make a sane decision as to the value of an item and then I submit that bid.

Okay, I will now get down off my soapbox. I relinguish the podium to the next speaker of the house. ;)

You guys are RUTHLESS...

I set a reasonable limit as to what I would spend for an Item on EBAY. If I win... . I win... . If I don't win... ... . Its ok. If I had to have this used ECM, I would have bid higher. To me what some of these are selling for now are WAY to much, IMO. To each his own. As far as waiting till the last minute, I don't have time to sit around and watch the clock tick, only to be outbid by everybody else doing the same thing. Put in what you are willing to pay and let it ride, if it works out , great , if not, maybe next time. Glad you won Darkhorse... . no hard feelings here... ... :) .

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but will the "MAD ECM" work in and HO? What would the difference be between an ETC and an ETH. Would it be better to have and ETC pump or would it all turn out the same.

THANKS,

JON
