Guys,

I have stock injectors and turbo. Do you think it will make me smoke? I would not mind a little but a lot at each acceleration would get tiresome.

Thanks

Phil

Phil, with factory injectors you should have less smoke in any given situation than you would with larger injectors. I had never paid any attention to smoke levels when my truck was stock. I only noticed smoke after I installed an EZ last March & that was because I started looking for it. With both the EZ & the CaTCHER I've had to pay attention to how fast I roll on the throttle. The difference between the two different units is that with the CaTCHER the truck is accelerating faster than with the EZ.

fueling box question

i have been reading all of the posts on the catcher. Those of you actually running the catcher could answer my question. Is there really a point in running a fueling box with the catcher? I was going to buy the blue chip manager and have my ecm done, but if the manager isn't going to make a $900 difference then i don't want it. So what do you think? thanks

GMac

With the new ecm the truck runs very strong, But when you add a fueling box it is even stronger. Not sure of the gains of the comp box compared to a stock ecm but I can still feel the difference between each level. Hope that helps :)

Oo.

Gmac,

IMO it would be wisest to do the ECM first. Get used to how it drives and then make a judgement call on more boxes...

GMac, I would also agree with John on this... . I would wait , get the ECM done, then make your own informed decesion. Might be good to dyno before the ecm and then after, depending on where you want to be for the amount of power it is that you are looking for.

In my case, using the DD Drag UFM, I can lower the smoke level substantially by running the box on level 1/1, as opposed to running the CaTCHER with the box turned off.

I don't know what others are finding but would be interested in finding out.

I am not too concerned with smoke. I just can't see buying a fueling box after having the catcher. Isn't the catcher and the fueling/timing box kinda doing the same thing. I would think you could only stretch the fueling and timing parameters so far and it sounds like the catcher is doing that already. I guess the more people run the catcher, the more clear it will be. For instance, if I was to have the catcher and say a edge comp box, would the comp box be worth the price for say smoke control. Would it add a considerable amount of power? That is the question I am running through my mind. thanks everyone :)

I've driven with my MAD CaTCHER for about 200 miles now. It's an absolute joy! Great throttle responce, maybe too much for fast off road use. Milage seems good but figures will have to wait untill I get over playing with this great toy... . er tool. If I already had a Comp or a UFM I'd keep it & use it like tcourse is doing but it's a lot of $$'s to spend to do what I can do with an educated right foot. If I remember correctly,Marco stated that a wire tapping box can yield even more power but he asked why any one would want to . With my stock clutch I can't use all the power this thing makes but I imagine folk in competition & other power junkies will be stacking the CaTCHER with fueling boxes.

The one mystery I have is my electronic cruise control that acts like it isn't there with the CaTCHER installed. I can live happily without it but I'll be asking Marco about it when he returns from the remote regions of the Adriatic.

I cant' wait for Marco to return from the remote regions of the Adriatic also.

Hopefully I'll find out this evening what the catcher with a comp on 5x5 and dd2's will do! Oo. Oo. I got mine back yesterday and going on tonight. Marco said I had a problem with the ecm I sent him but thought he got it fixed. If he didn't, oh well, we'll just have to find another ecm. Marco and Doug have been awesome on getting this thing to Italy and back in a short order. I've been very pleased with the way they are handling the problems with my ecm. Both have done their best to make things right. Thank you both!! They both have said what they were doing and done what they said.
