I just bought a CB, I am mounting the antenna on a hood mount. Is there a good penetration point through the firewall that will not affect the engine noise through the firewall by drilling a new hole ?
There is a large rubber grommet on the driver side just to the right (looking at the front of engine) that is great to penetrate CB coax, boost and EGT gauge lines, exhaust brake lines, air lines for you aux airbag suspension and aux lights .
Might want to make a big slit with a utility knife now so you won't risk damaging your coax when you go to add the other accessories.
I ran my scanner antenna cable through the drivers door. There ia a rubber grommet in between the hinges that you can puncture to run the cable through. Very accessible and you don't have to compromise your fire wall.
I ran my antenna cable under the floor to a rubber grommet under the rear seat and then under the floor mat to front seat power lead opening then to the CB mounted on the bracket over the hump.
