I am in need of info. I am looking for a good talking magnetic mount mobile cb antenna. Any info or links will be appreciated.

Thanks Don

i would have suggested a wilson 500 mag mount... they usually run around 65 bucks at your local truck stop or any CB shop would carry them.

I have a K-40, the magnet is about 6" dia. will hold in 120 mph wind. one piece of advice. DON"T leave it in one place for a long time. as the article above stated, about fading paint. mine cause paint ripple or orange peel under the magnet. not to bad but noticeable with your hand. I expect this in time, will cause the paint to peel in this area.

just my penny's worth.

Marv.

Heres a trick I used under my K 40. I put down clear caulking in a thin layer on the paint. Let dry and then put the antenna mag mount down. Keeps the paint from being scratched and keeps water off the paint that the mount would otherwise hold to the paint. Over 5 years on the K 40 and it still looks good on the paint.

TThickstun, sure your caulking works, but you have killed any grounding that antenna had, and your performance will suffer. But, I should use your idea for my mag mount DOT strobe light.

I made this and installed it via a few holes from inside the bed. All it is , is a piece of 3" steel that I bent and drilled to fit the bed between the bed and the cab. I mounted the new Wilson 1000 that I bought today. Thanks for all the input... ... ... ... ... whew... . I got my first pic posted and it went thru... ... ... . only took 3 times. :D I do have other pics but this one is probably the best. I tried it out from the base station at home and it talks about1 mile as compared to 1/4 mile that my other one did. Thanks again.

Nice, Now that I know what I am looking for it won't be hard to spot that rig the next time I come home.

Heck, you will be able to talk from your house all the way to Exit 64:D :D :D

Mark

YES, It is @ Millcreek boat dock. Took the pics last week when the sun finally came out. Exit 64 is a few miles away but probably not do-able from my house with the radio... ... ... ... now if I could get it "turned up" it might be an option. :)
