I remember in the seventys some off road (possibly Vic Hickey) company had an aftermarket centrifugal air filter that "spun" inside to throw the dirt to the outside and the debris fell into a cup that you could empty from time to time. In the center, I think, it had a paper filter as well. Anyone know if something like this is still available?

My old '82 Chevy 6. 2 had one stock. You'll be able to find one at a junkyard without a problem, but if my memory serves me correctly, the intake diameter was different than our current rigs... .

Donaldson makes all sorts of sizes. They use them on fork lifts, air compressors, and varied off road equipment. They come in both upright and horizontal styles.
