Check engine light came on the other day. Did the off and on ignition key thing and code P1693 came up. Don't have a code scanner. Does anyone know what that code is? Just started using Lucus fuel injector cleaner in fuel couple weeks ago because the exhaust was getting a little eye burning. Just thought I would mention that in case the code has something to do with fuel or injector pump. Truck runs fine. Light comes on and off during the coarse of the day after shutdowns and start ups. Thanks for any info

Yeah I guess that would help.:-laf Got it all written out in my profile haven't figured out how to get it under my threads yet. Its a 2000 ram, auto 4x4 Q/C

Usually an intermittent CEL can be caused by the Crank position sensor and on later models the Cam position sensor. Do you know which one you have ?. The Crank position sensor is behind the starter and if it is the Cam sensor it is around the top front above the VP 44 I believe. My 99 for instance has the Crank sensor.

I just remembered the MAP sensor can also give intermittent CEL's also, I have had both, the crank and MAP. Some codes reset after so many no code starts and maybe time/mileage, really can't remember. If you can get a scanner narrowing it down may help, otherwise you will be throwing parts at it.

Unless someone can say if your 2K has a Crank sensor the best way to find out is get under the truck and look at the block behind the starter. If there are wires there you will have a Crank sensor, no wires you have a Cam sensor. My 99 has both but the Cam sensor is for diagnostics only and has nothing to do with engine operation or codes.

Thanks TT. Didn't feel like crawling under the truck today it pouring out. The check engine light hasn't been on since yesterday afternoon so I don't know if its still an issue or not.

The 1693 is a companion code that means there is a code in the pcm or ecm. You need a code reader to see what it is. Then you can fix the issue without just throwing parts at it.
