Anyway, I've been to the dealer, I've scanned codes, I've checked everything possible to check. I have noticed a pattern to the light though. When first starting the truck up for the day when it is cold I will get the light right as the truck starts up and it will usually stay on till I drive away and get over 5-10mph.

It will continue to come on as I come to a stop, usually around 15mph or so and stay on while stopped then turn off as I start rolling past 5-10mph.

Once the truck is up to full temp (180-200) it never comes on again and won't come on again till the truck is cold again.

As soon as the light comes on it sets a check engine light as well but no new codes are stored. If I go on a long trip once the trucks hot the check gauges stops coming on as said and the check engine will shut off after a while but as soon as the truck is shut down and gets cold overnight it's back on the next morning.

Getting rather frustrated here... The ding is driving me nuts! What the heck would cause a check gauges light while cold and stopped?????

Well thanks for all the help everybody... :rolleyes:

After having the check gauges and check engine light on for a few months now, yesterday they went out. The check gauges shut off then a few miles later the check engine went off. Still not back on as of today at 8pm. I had forgotten what the dash looked like without all the idiot lights on :)

Anyway, still no clue whats up, I'm sure they will be back to visit shortly :(

cc, do a search here for that subject, IIRC it sometimes has something to do with the battery temp sensors under the batteries. I've just learned to ignore mine now for the most part.

The actual check gauges light does? Or just the battery temp sensor code I'm getting? I'm aware of the problem with the temp. differential causing the code for the battery temp sensors and setting a check engine light but have NEVER read anything about it setting a "check gauges" light. I've searched for everythign ever posted on this site about my problems and have yet to find someone with the same check gauges light problems I'm having...

cc, I just get the intermittent check gages light, even after they reflashed AND fried my computer and dash. how many miles on your rig?

106,106 as it sits in the driveway. On my trip this weekend I got the check gauges for a solid 30 minutes before it shut off. On the way back from that same trip is when everything went off. Truck runs great. Let me tell you though, have a check engine and a check gauges light on for 30+ minutes while towing 14k pounds through the mountains is not a comforting task :{
