Seems that all of the trucks have this. Mine came with block off caps but they had cracked and fell off. The TSB for the severe duty filtration kit has a part number for the tank vent kit. It's about $80. I used a length of 1/4 in hose and made a "T" fitting and tied it in to the fuel tank vent, NO MORE FUEL LEAK AND WATER. Was the cheapest way to go.

It seems to me that regardless of which bed you have, it is not a good idea to have this vent hose hanging down the side of the tank. I'm going to run a hose either into the area behind the fuel door beside the filler neck and cap or forward into the engine compartment. I'll put an breather end on it, like the one on the differential vent. We do this on the Jeeps when off-roading. It works well.

when I replaced my tank, I was amazed to see that fitting which on MINE had no hose and nothing to stop dirt/water from getting in.

Just checked my ’09 3500, build date 11/27/2008, sure enough it has two of those “roll-over one way breather check valves” on top of the tank, one at each end. Thanks TDR, Fireman and others (and 10-9jc for the bump)!!!! :)
