To check for codes, cycle the key..... on... off... . on... off... . on(and leave on), then read the codes in the odometer window.

Does this work on an 03 too?

What is the best way to check codes and clear codes?

Thanks.

You can read the codes this way but still takes a scanner to clear them (unless the disconnect batts, turn on key works as posted in another thread works).

SOTSU!!

PS: may need to "borrow" the KDP jig for a 99 that was bought by another (early build - think it was 12-98).

I just bought Alex Pepers OBD II system. It will read/clear codes and monitor certain vehicle parameters. I like it. You can find information on it here:

That looks interesting. You have to have a PC to use it... right?

Hey Batelle!!

How much will you charge me to clear an "over boost" code?

P. S. I'll let you romp this rig as hard as you want, lol.

Hardwick,

I'm itching to try clearing a code with this thing... if you want one cleared I'll drive over there and give it a try... I PM'd you about it...

Blakers,

Yeah you need a PC for it. I'm using an old "junker" 486 that I've had since 1995 (ancient technology!). So far I've tried the software on my truck and my fiances '02 Civic. I have no codes currently set, so I can't comment on whether the code read/reset routine works, but I'm sure it does. Unfortunately, I can't read many "interesting" parameters. Unless I'm missing something, I can only read the "usual" stuff, like intake air temp. , coolant temp. , RPM, MAP, throttle position, and % load. But I really like the % load reading.

I was hoping to be able to read fuel rail pressure, but so far that has eluded me.
