I just had work performed at Powershop in Enumclaw, Wa. I am always happy with their work. I just was looking for information on my upgrade results. I just had 4" Banks exhaust an AFE Air Filter and Smarty installed. They did a Dyno test to start. With no power upgrades the dyno was 191. 7 HP torque 405. 7. Second run with Smarty at level 7 was 212. 1 HP torque 470. 5 and the third run smarty set at 9 was 227. 5 HP torque 512. 0. These were the max readings. Do those results sound right with my upgrades? They left the settings on 9 for when I tow. I do notice smoke now when I put my foot into it, but I also do notice a definite difference in pulling power at 2100rpm's. From what I read I thought the smarty would provide about 60HP at the max setting. I ended up with about 36HP and 107 torque increase. I thought I would be running at a lower setting to avoid the smoke and still have some pulling power. Is 9 a normal setting for towing? Please give me your feed back.

I like the Smarty for what it does to the driveability of my truck. If your sole reason for owning a Smarty is to increase power... good luck and purchase a good fueling box or timing/fueling box to supplement it. I personally am shocked you got that much of a difference on the dyno between settings 7 and 9!I will always have mine for the extra benefits it holds, but for power,I choose mechanical mods or a fueling box to get what I want.

Thanks for responding. I just wanted to see if my dyno

results seem normal. What I was after with this upgrade

was for more towing power not to have a fast truck.

from what i understand, the smarty is good for towing power because it changes your power curve, and will give you more on the low end.

the smarty is great from stock to heavy bombed. IMO you wont see much of a HP jump on a mild truck just better response. but the more you add with fuel. injectors and box are great with it. however when you have the smarty and fuel and injectors added your transmission will not like you. I dont think smarty 9 is what I will ever tow at. I have towed plenty on SW 3 and SW 5. I prefer SW-3 you can play around with the REVO program if you have that. I dont know if smarty new out of the box already has the REVO software on them. but I have used my smarty atleast 10 times now on other friends truck to either run codes or sell them on the smarty.

I run nothing but #9 for towing loads up to 18K lbs with no problem. It tows great. You'll have to learn to ease into the throttle with any fueling mods. You just can't floor it anymore like it's a stock truck. I run #8 with my Comp when not towing.

I tried my Smarty one time on #9, on my mostly stock, 06. At a 60mph, slap the pedal to the metal punch, it gave a big puff of smoke, accelerated like "wow", up to 70-75 mph, then totally over-powered my never been abused before, stock clutch.

The next morning, " Hello, SBC Clutch? Can I speak to Peter?

For some reason those numbers just seem low to me but i haven't been able to put mine on the rollers
