I have a 97 and want to check the overflow valve for proper pressure.

Can someone tell me where to connect the pressure guage and what type of pressure I should be getting?

thanks

If you want a temporary gauge the best place to connect it is the outlet bleed screw on top of the fuel filter. You will need an adaptor from metric bolt size to pipe thread, TST sells these for $25. Normal idle pressure should be 20 - 24 psi.

Goober, I'm not sure, but I think you have the cannister fuel filter?

What I did was I pulled the complete filter housing off the engine.

On the top, you can see where there is extra metal in two areas. I drilled and tapped these two bosses. 1/8" NPT.

I now have a port to attach the fuel pressure gauge to, and I can also gauge the pressure drop across the fuel filter.

If yours is a spin on..... ignore this. :D

thanks illflem

Patriot... .

Does that system work. Can you tell by the drop of pressure if the fuel filter is getting clogged? What is it you look for?

If so, what range sending unit should I use 1-15 or 1-30lbs?

thanks

Yes it works good... . so far.

I have two needle valves on top of the fuel filter housing. I just crack em opened till the gauge slowly goes up.

I bought the Cyberdyne gauges. The whole shootin match was about $85. 00. This is the gauge and two senders.

I dont know how accurate it is. I just got it in a month ago, or so. I havent been driving much latley. Right now I'm getting about 4 psi drop across the filter, which leads me to believe they aint calibrated exactly alike. :( There's only about 4K miles on a new filter.

What I have to do is replace the filter, and clean the screen. Then I have a base figure and I can go from there.

PS, I can send you a pic or two if you'd like, but I still dont know how to post the pics here.
