Thanksgiving got off to a bad start when I backed the passenger side mirror into the garage door track. It folded back, down and onto the ground. :( Totaled it right out. Turned to the right just in time to see it connect with the garage.

Anyway, the replacement mirror was about $225. After I got the door panel off, the little plastic "Christmas tree" fasteners were a little worse for wear. I decided to replace 'em. The dealer charged me $2. 99 apiece for the dad gum things!

There has to be a source for these aforementioned fasteners that lets 'em go a little bit better price, isn't there? Anybody know of one?

The upside of this sad story is that I now know how to get inside my door without wrecking things too much. The downside is that I had to drop $300 on a mirror that I would've rather spent on a Horton or Rhino Liner. Oh well. :)

Thanks,

Tim

Almost any auto parts store has them in those red HELP packages, I got some at Pep Boys and the whole pack of about 10 or so was about4-5 dollars I think (its been a while). There is a tool to pull your door panel off that saves the fasteners most of the time, it looks like a screwdriver with a little nail puller claw on the end and mine was $6. 00.

If you need some, i can get them to you for a VERY good price. Just pm me if you're still in need. If anyone else needs some, just let me know.

I bought the "Help" brand fasteners. They suck. Never used one of them. This is after I returned my genuine Mopar ones. Had to go back to Dodge Stealer and pay $45 bucks for 20 of them. The parts chick gave me a deal cause she felt bad about charging so much for them. You can try the help one's, but I had no luck at all with them.

tool

I ended up using a "Wonder Bar" tool for pulling off the door panel. I put a layer of duct tape on it to protect the paint. Worked pretty well overall.

Thanks for the feedback!

I used the "Christmas Tree" type. They must be destroyed to be removed. I went back to the Dodge ones. A little under $2 each but worth the ease of reuse.
