I would estimate a cost of at least $250 (that's about what it costs to re-chrome a car bumper in this area) to chrome it. Personally I would just paint it silver, like almost all pickups used to be 10-20 years ago, although body color may be preferable to some. I would like to replace my stock chrome (flimsy) bumper with a regular old style painted diamond plate (on the top) step bumper like they used to use. If you use your truck at all, chances are you will bump or scratch it at some time. Painted silver, it would be easy to touch up with a spray can, even if you had to paint the whole bumper once a year or so, not that big of a deal. Once chrome gets scratched, it grabs your attention to that area. When I see a nice truck from the 60's/70's/80's at a show or in a magazine, I don't think "boy, that truck would look better with a chrome bumper", I just think 'nice old truck". The old silver step bumpers were almost invisible/generic and said "truck" much more than the flimsy contour bumpers of today.
