Don't have all the facts about this, but here is what I've been told. Chrysler has put a delivery hold on all new G-56 6 speeds. If the truck is on the dealer lot, it can be sold. If it is in production, or on the rails to be delivered, they will not release the vehicle.
There seems to be a problem with the "flex plate. " This is what I'm being told by the largest volume Dodge dealer in the Northwest. I'm going to call their tech rep tomorrow and see if I can get more information.
This may be a minor problem, or it could be a significant delay. My local dealer didn't tell me about this, until today, even though the information has been out there since Friday or Saturday, last week. They didn't tell me what the problem was, just that there was a hold. Had to call another dealer for more information.
Those of us with the G-56 manual transmission ordered now have a major decision to make. Wait and see if it is a minor fix (doesn't sound like it, or I think they would have released them to the dealers), cancel the order and buy something else, or wait for them to get it all ironed out and buy a truck later. This is a real bummer...
