Competition So this powerjoke wanted to play tonight...

Competition Exhaust system for pulling

The race was great, and thanks to all who braved the wind and cold it sounds like ESPN was freaked out by the diesel racers and mentioned that they would be making a show on it. COOL!!Oo.

Was it Master's Entertainment Group? They said the same thing about the Big Rig Nationals that I swept and they ended up showing bus racing instead of the pickups. I got 5 seconds, but I'll take it! When they make the final show, the person paying the bill will select which version to play is what I was told. Maybe Freddy will hook us up? Maybe.

I heard there were some quick times, anyone got a run down?

Clash of the Titans

Just wanted to personally thank Scott Walker of Mobile Diesel Performance for sponsoring this event. It was a great success and I personally had a great time. You just can't ask for a better event and people to work with. I just hope we can get a little better turn out of diesels at the next event in Houston.

Again Scott, Thanks Alot

I hope to see all of us on ESPN 2

The producer is that job, and your right. Remember, it's "their" show because they are paying for it.

Times? Anyone? :p

Quickest time went to a twin turbo'd 12 valve with slicks he was something like 12. 84 @ 104 mph.

I went 13. 1x @ 109 on my first pass.

I suffered a pretty bad nitrous backfire on my second run which did this to my intercooler boot.

#ad

It also blew out my intake manifold gasket. Spectators told me fire blew out from under the engine and the announcer said that they had just witnessed the first diesel pickup blowing an engine at the track. :)

So I borrowed a boot from a buddy and made it back for the third round where I spun in 4x4 all the way through 3rd gear. I actually had white tire smoke coming out from my front left fender. I've got rubber all over my driver's side door. :)

That was a wild ride because I was constantly fighting the steering wheel as the front tires searched for traction.

I ended up with a best of 13. 09 @ 109. I guess it's time to either take off the 35" mud tires and run some stickier street tires or get some lockers to help with traction.

Craig Carter won the bracket class running 13. 3's and 13. 4's @ 99-100 mph with DD2's, an Edge Drag Comp Box and a DTT transmission. That's amazing performance from such a small package.

We had several people turning 13. 3's to 13. 6's including Scott Walker and the Diesel Innovations Drag truck (powerstroke).

All in all, we had trucks ranging from 12 seconds to 18 seconds and we all had a great time and impressed a lot of people and helped out the diesel performance image a great deal.

WOW, Had a good time, and learned lots of stuff.

As far as BOMBs go for '03's,, there was a SERIOUSLY BOMBed 4-door short bed 4wd truck there. The truck ran into some problems when pulling into the track and wasn't running very well, so instead of seeing an '03 run a predicted 14 second 1/4 mile, we got to see the truck hauled off by a flatbed tow-truck. :(

We only got two time-trials (with a pro-tree, . 4 r/t) before we went to eliminations (sportsman tree . 5 r/t) Several of the guys never got a good run with time-trials so most of the Dial-ins were good guesses.

I didn't even come close to making it past the first round of eliminations. My dial of 14. 3 with a run of 14. 59, and my R/T of 1. 5, was definatly a losing combination.

But, Hearing the crowd, laugh as I pulled up to the water box, and then cheer as I did my burnout was worth the price of admission.

Here's a quick run-down. .

After running 13 flats all day, Joe Hellman ran a 12. 8 @ 104 in the eliminations and broke out with a dial in of 12. 9

I can't recall Chris Strickland's time, but I'm sure it was below a 13. I think he dialed in a 12. 6 or 12. 7? he didn't break out first round, and I know he got 3rd place.

S. Walker (this year's sponsor, Mobile Diesel Performance) was running a 14+ in the 1/4, but once he got his truck setup better he was running low 13's (@ 100+MPH) in his 2wd QC Dually

David Lott (last years sponsor, Diesel Innovations) was running 14 flats in the time trials, then dialed in with an optomistic 13. 8, and broke out with a 13. 4 or 13. 2

----------------------

As for now these are all the dial-ins/run times coming off the top of my head.

Hopefully we can get the other members to post their times also.

Hope this helps,

I think Chris posted the times very accurately. I think his truck and Scott truck with a little more fine tunning both are capable of some considerable lower et's. They just need a little more time to work out the kinks on the "GAS". As for Me my personal best was 13. 4 @ 100 and best reaction time was in the final @ . 654. I recently had my transmission repaired and Bill @ DTT warranted all of his parts and went above and beyond, and graciously gave me the newest updates and parts that I did not originally purchase free of charge to me. With the new transmission and updated changes alone I knocked 1 full second off last years times and gained 5 mph in the top end. So to those of you who want to get all the power you have to the ground contact Bill at DTT or Chris Strickland. I cant begin to say how pleased I am with the performance of my truck with what I have in it. :D :D :D

Gues I took a long time to type up my post, lol

Last post up when I started to reply was TxDieselKid's,,, I guess Chris is a faster typer then me, LOL.

Way to go guys!!!! Wish I could have made it but funds were to low. Besides, I owe the Uncle a pretty good chunk this year

Remember, Houston Raceway Park in Baytown runs every Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

Well, the '03 truck is back on the road. The day before this event, the owner had washed the truck with a pressure washer.

Well,, the combination of a prototype box, and lots of water didn't make a good combination. Ended up replacing a sensor on top of the motor, and all is well.

He is rumoured to dyno soon. We'll see what happens, I'll keep yall updated (in-case anybody is interested)
