That is our trailer shop but a lot of power units get worked on down there as well, the yellow poles support 4 sets of chain falls on roller beams. Works nicely for projects such as the glider.



The power shop on the other end of the complex is much tighter, built in the 1970's when power units were much shorter.



Edit... I want to add that this is the warmest shop I have ever worked in. We had a huge waste oil furnace that we recently converted to Natural Gas and so far it seems the gas will keep the boiler as hot as the waste oil ever did. Hooray!!!

My little brother had one or two Mack gliders back in the late 80's. Superliners with sleepers and air ride. IIRC Mack 350 engine.

He never really dug the puppy dogs, but for a while they kept food on the table while his Peterbilt's were having some problems.

Nice shop Mike ! Right now I would settle for a front cover that wasn't cracked ! my 7cz C16 cover cracked just outside the fuel pump and is dumping about a gallon every 5000 miles. anyway , Have a Happy Thanksgiving !!!

Didn't know they still did it with all the new regulations on trucks. The one's that I have seen were just a cab and frame with all the plumbing. Donor truck was the power train. Your engine/trans/ and Rear end's. Could tell them how you wanted it drilled and they would drill the frame rails and have a pretty much bolt in with the wheel base and motor mounts pre drilled. Because the power train components could be rebuilt and have a pretty much new truck. Never did like the Columbia Freightliners they weren't very ergonomic. Even with long arm's like mine I had to lean forward to reach the dash switches.

The best log truck I ever owned was an '83 Mack Superliner with a 400 big cam 3 and a RTO-12513. The only thing I didn't like about it was the prehistoric cab and doors. However, the best feature about it was the front axle mounted steering box rather then a normal frame mount. It drove like a Cadillac, never any bump steer and was the only truck I ever drove where I could keep up with the "big boys" on narrow two lane, s-curve highways. Off-highway, snow,steep switchbacks, side'lin roads with a cliff beside you was no problem, but high speed crooked highways, I was always kinda "chicken":-laf

Mike, Does the doner truck need a clear title for the Engine trans, ect. . I have one that has a reman driveline (front to rear) Cummins N14, Rockwell trans, and eaton rears in, that the title is not available for.

I had a CAT c16 600 hp, 2250 tq engine in a 1999 pete 379 that was our heavy hauler. It would pull 120K+ gross loads at full speed up the hills on the interstate around Cincinnati. it was massaged to about 800 hp. Miss the sound of that monster.

That is a wonderful question, I honestly don't know the answer.



The title girl has the day off so I can't go ask her.



Off the cuff, I don't think the State Of Maine has that as a criteria.
