Today I discovered that 3M Imperial Hand Glaze cleans the porous black rubber and plastic exterior parts of my truck.
Thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else is looking for a cleaner for these parts.

I also use the back to black. Makes old black stuff look like new.

This discovery was made while a friend was waxing the truck with it. Unlike Meguiers wax the 3M didn't turn the rubber white #ad

I liked finding a product that did both.

I've had good luck with Meguires professional Rubber Treatment (#42) on the molding, mirrors, antenna base, bumper moldings and the black plastic piece on the tailgate. I use a toothbrush to apply (helps get it in all the little crevices) and let it sit for awhile before wiping off. Lasts through several car washes before needing to be applied again.

Well, I have to tell everyone I was wro... err... mistaken! about the Hand Glaze working on the black rubber and plastic.
It looked great yesterday right after I finished but it looked like I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER today. I guess it just needed to dry out, then I could see what it really looked like.
Sorry if I led anyone wrong here, I just got excited and wanted to share my new idea.

Anybody have any ideas on how to get that ugly white residue off your black plastic and rubber parts that got wax on them while waxing your paint?

WD-40 (spray on a rag first of course)

I use black shoe polish and it holds up great and that was months ago. I got this idea from a post a while back from Blackcloud.
