When I decided to install a new Mag-Hytec Diff Cover, it acured to me that the cover may hit the spare tire. When checking with other TDR members this was confirmed. It is my understanding the cover just rubs a little on the stock tire. This was not acceptable to me! Some told me to let the tire down from the cradle a little, just enough to allow you to pull it back while cranking it back up. I tried this but the tire would slide back some. I think I have come up with a solution; I shifted the tire back on the cradle, to where it is just sitting on the edge of the creadle. If you notice the cradle has two levels to it (I don't know how else to describe this). The way I positioned the cradle, on one side the tire is resting on the lower level, on the front of the cradle it is positioned on the second level. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the back of cradle in order to slide a heavy plastic tie through there to insure that the tire would not shift. Like I said earlier the cradle is just holding on to the tire by about a 1/4 inch. In the front it has lots of meat holding it! This has now given me an extra 3/4 of an inch.
I need to take a picture! That might make this make more sense.
