What about say 3 3/16" holes drilled in the stocker?

This will start the BS a flyin'...

The best thing to do on astock engine, is to solder 2 of the 3 jiggle pins closed. That seems to keep the stat from cycling. It is tought to get all of the air out of it at first fill, but once you do, it is great.

For modified engines, HIGH RPM!, do the clipped impeller, or a pressure by pass. I like the pressure bypass, as that way at idle, it still cools. At High RPM, it saves the soft plugs from engine up under the tires.

BBD, can you get the freeze plug out with out dropping the trans. I don't want to if i don't have to. I just ordered the kit today from EEP. They were great and helpful. Thanks Scott

Not the best quality, but here is a pic of the EEP fix in the rear plug.

Where abouts does that recerculate to? Is there a o-ring groove, or some RTV on the cover to seal things up?

Thanks. Jim

I couldn't tell you as we did it with the transmission out in my case I think I could get to it from the passenger side but I have a lot of stuff removed like the whole AC system, heater lines etc... I think it would be a pita but not impossible.

Post #15 of this thread shows the kit minus the hose you can see the o-ring that is part of the cover plate.

Post #25 shows the regulator mounted and that it recirc's to the top radiator hose.

Basically hose out of the back freeze plug to the bottom of the regulator and then hose from the top opening on the regulator to the fitting supplied in the kit that gets inserted in the top radiator hose. Real simple install, well after you get the piece in the rear freeze plug location.

I don't know guys. There have been quite a few 3rd gen guys popping these plugs out also. And we haven't even found 4K yet, let alone been there and held it. The guys blowing them are only seeing 32-3500 RPM.

I blew out the back freeze plug last weekend doing some testing with my new TST flash. I was at about 2500rpm and roughly 65psi boost when it let go. Coolant everywhere. Now to pull the transmission and fix it

Has any body tryed installing a thicker type of frost plug similar to chevy v-8 seems like with double the sealing surface it would not be a problem. The cummins seems to use a very thin frost plug.

Thanks Brian
