I am hearing a clunk in the right front when I go over a bump or a raised roadway where the right front wheel might be allowed to return all of the way to the bottom. I have 50K. Still the O. E. Shocks. I'm a 2WD. Any suggestions???????

Several things to check.

1) shock could be bad and causing the clunk (I kind of doubt it though)

2) There have been some problems with shock bolts that were not tight enough. Crawl under there and make sure the bottom bolt is real tight.

3) Sometimes the spotwelds on the body behind the fender can break letting the panels move around and make noises like this.

4) Fender liners, battery cables, and non-stock air filters can all be possible sources of noise.

Just be thorough and take your time to examine everything on that corner of the truck, you'll find it.

Good luck,

Mike

Had a similar clunk........

It did turn out to be the shock bolt as stated above. Had a Dodge tech help me with my brakes and on the test drive he immediately said your shock bolt isn't tight enough. He said it's a common problem.

Funny thing is it was tight... ... just not tight enough. Had to use a huge breaker bar and really cram down on it, which aint easy laying under the truck. But it did solve the problem, no more clunk.

Mine had developed the same "clunk" but on the left side front. I finally had time to investigate, and found that the bottom shock rubber bushing, had worn through. The metal liner inside was exposed and hiting the shock tower with every bump.
