Thanks, TDR Staff

Some nice 24V injector only numbers.

Water Injection-distilled or not?

Well my clutch went out today, Center broke out of it,( 13" FE ),and I guess I need to go to a Dual Disk of some sort . I want to hear from every one Not just one brand ,and no Wars only Facts. EEP,McLeod,SBC,Etc.

Defect!!!!

I helped remove this clutch and it didn't fail because of too much power in my opinion. It is missing a rivet that secures the middle section and has a broken ring around the center spline.

I was VERY disappointed with Southbend for not standing behind this clutch(except as to offer a replacement for 1/2 price).

Anyone that knows JB knows he drives fast but like a granny on his drivetrain. He never pulls anything and I have never known him to speed shift.

He is at 476Hp now but most of the clutch's life was at 440hp.

He had springs that came out of the clutch plate and was told it was normal????? Now basically no warrantee except as to write another check and they will stand behind it... . SORT OF.

EEP competition dual disk - as of right now... that's what I'd put in my '98.

You can't drive the competition Haisley clutch on the street... the flyweights make it impossible to disengage it at anything above ~2k RPM.

The SBC dual disk is supposed to be pretty good, but there's literally no track record to support it or any other clutch besides the true-blue EEP rattler.

How'dHeDoThat

I have seen this post on two threads now. On this one you neglected to say that the clutch had almost 40,000 miles, nevertheless... you should give the whole story. The pilot bushing that was used was brass. This bushing was not supplied by me nor would I recommend ever using one. When you removed the clutch the brass bushing literally fell out. Hardly anything was left. I explained that this caused the problem do to no support on the input shaft allowing the shaft to oscillate. Even though the installer put something in that did not come with my clutch and even after... . WAY AFTER!!! my warranty I still got you a clutch at below cost. THEN... . you come on here with ill words. If you were not happy with how or what I offered then why didn't you say something on the phone at that time. Be a man when you talk to someone instead of coming here and whining.

My 2 cents..... sorry

Peter

Peter... ..... Don't be sorry. Just tell it like it is. That's the best philosophy. It works for me but sometimes you hurt somebodys feelings. So be it.

. . Preston. .

I was wondering what the other side of this coin held, now we know. I would say this is above and beyond what most would consider as fair. It is tough for a mfg. to warrant merchandise, when it is not installed using recommended methods.

Peter, It was not How'dHeDoThat's Clutch , It was mine. I went back in my service records and the clutch was installed at 100,231miles, the truck now has 136789 on the clock. Yeh the brass bushing was worn and did fall out after I pulled the Flywheel off, but it fell out the back side ,not the front side . With inspection of ,it will only go in from the back side couldn't reinsert through the front, and has about 11 mm of area that the shaft sits in. Checked the bearings in the imput area and has almost nill in movement. You make a good product , and I've seen trucks equiped with the same clutch take more HP and a lot of abuse that are still holding up , 2 of which that have the brass bushing, that I know of. But I've made up my mind I'm going to go ahead and through as much fuel to my truck as is possible so I never have to look at another single disk clutch again. Much More options that way.

As far as my Monday went , My friend Who took most of a day to HELP me out should get an appology. He only said what he saw and helped pull out.

I lost a day a work and a big chunk out of my pride , as we towed my truck with Fords and Chevys passing us. If it hadn't been for my friends ,I would probably still be stuck on the side of the road, and not getting to work so I can afford to put a clutch in my truck . And special thanks to Special Intrests for loaning me money so when I decide what to put in there, I can. When I do figure out what I want in this truck , I think this time I'll install it myself and leave the part changers and cheerleaders sitting on the bench. I'm Done Ranting So ... ... ... .....

Can we get back to the reason this thread was started, I want to hear about Dual Disks,Triples . It don't matter But No single Disk clutches.

SBC is a great company to deal with. I purchased a clutch from Peter and never installed it for over a year. Bang, totaled my truck. Guess what? Sent it back and got my money back. Who do you think I will be buying my next clutch from??

Well here's an update , Installed a Haisley DD Street Puller. This clutch is holding everything I throw at it, truck feels much faster now , I can speed shift it and tack it allthe way out and hit the pump govenor without it feeling like a slipped clutch. Deffinatly , like this one. Thanks JDailey for your imput.

What is the new clutch pedal effort like? Hard? Slightly more stiff, or the same as the FE?

My 13" FE is doin' ok.

With 446RWHP on a stock turbo, I don't have the feeling of a slipping clutch.

How does that dual disc clutch speed shift like? I want to do a Dual disc, but speed shifting is too much in my nature, and I'm afraid the extra disk will slow me down...
