Clutch Install

I will be installing a South Bend Con OFE clutch this weekend. Is their any gremlins or dragons I need to be aware of before doing this installation. I will have the fly wheel reground and probally install the Kevlar pilot bushing.

I just did mine a couple fo weeks ago. Another LSTDR member took a bunch of pictures. We really didn't run into a major gremlin(except the fact that I forgot the needle bearing at the house and had to go get it).



Pretty straight-forward install. THe shifter is a real bear to get off. You have to push and turn the clamp that holds it in.

The shifter just slides off the little stub on top of the trans. I used a couple crescent wrenches--One on the flats of the stub and one right above it. (under the flange of the shifter) Then used a pry bar between the 2 wrenches to slide them appart. Hope this makes sense.



Also, I used the slave to hold the fork in place while put the trans back in. I worried it would come loose and not function. Test it out before all is back together.



Have fun. It ain't so bad.

I have done it 3 times now. Just take your time and be sure to torque everything up when your done. I use blue lockthread on all of the bolts too.

I used one cresent wrench and a mallet and mine popped right off. I used the slave cylinder to hold the throw out arm after first knocking the arm and clip off. I could not get that sucker back on no how. Ended up pulling the bell housing back off.
