Well, I didn't think it could happen, but it now has.

Running EZ box on setting #3, and 275 injectors, the ol' clutch is starting to let go under hard acceleration in 5th gear. It only really seems to happen around 1800-2000 RPM, where the it's torqus maximus.

I thought the stock clutches on the '99 could hold this kind of power.....

Funny, it never happened pulling the 5er all summer, but now happens empty.

Anyone else had one slipping stock with this level of HP?

Oh well, I was gonna have to do it someday anyway, but was always told that the stock clutch would hold this power no problem. Guess not.

As if I haven't spent enough $$ on this truck :D :D

I guess I'm now a chartered member of the clutch slippers club.

Cheers,

Shawn

Shawn....

How many miles has it been since you installed the injectors & EZ box? I am just curious, because I have over 1000 miles with my DDII's and EZ with no clutch problems yet ..... (Knock on wood) I run it fairly hard at times too!:D

Under the right (wrong) conditions I can slip it by romping on it with the STOCK injectors. Normally it is okay if I just take it a little easy. A clutch will be in my future though if I want to do any additional upgrades.

Well thanks to southbend and as always, great customer service from Piers I have a Con Fe in route as we speak! Anything more then half throttle now and the stock clutch slips.

Wow?

I figured mine would let go LONG before yours would-but mine's still hanging in there... . that's kind of mind-boggling! I bit the bullet on a Hot COMP-should be here early in the New Year. So I'll be due for a clutch replacement right after that :D

Sorry to hear yours piled up Shawn... .

Jason

Yeah, slipped on me just yesterday.

Well Jason, I actually think it was slipping on the dyno too.

The first run was 10HP better than the second run - now stands to reason I guess.

Scott mentioned to me after that he thought he "smelled clutch"... . I guess he was right about that.

I think the difference may have been the thousands of miles I put on this summer with 10K lbs in tow.

I just don't get it. It shouldn't be slipping.

WARRANTY!! yeah, that's it ;) (NOT!)

I really feel for you guys who's clutch is slipping stock. That really sucks - no room at all for upgrades.

Well, might as well glaze 'er up good now ;)

Shawn

My Joey D clutch is still holding with a PM3 and DDIII's.

Thanks Joe.

Hope Sickley isn't feeling tooooo bad:) (what ONLY 600+ HP and 1400#'s torque:p ) )

Shawn, just wondering how many miles on your truck?, I had the same problem at about 91K mi. As you will see I have similar modifications and I tow a 10,000 horse trailer. The clutch really made its last stand when I switched from a VA box to the edge comp last august. It would break loose in 4th or 5th empty. So I put the south bend in and wow! easy operation and no slip no chatter its great!, Good luck, Dave

I think Im president of the club. Clutch was fine one day, then all of a sudden it slips in all the gears! Oh yeah,... some box of stuff from Joseph Donnelly did show up that day;) maybe thats why
