Well my clutch pedal is about all the way to the top and I mean all the way up, I looked at my clutch disc and its pretty thin, plus I've got bad chatter in it as well, truck has a 158,750 on it, I'm looking at a South-Bend clutch, I talked to Peter there and he said that either the MU-0090 Rally or the MU-0090 Con. O will be sufficient even though they are 12 1/4" instead of being 13" like the factory, but they have a small header that says "not for heavy towing", I would like to pull a couple of my trailers, and the heavy one is about 12,500 lbs, they have a MU 13-1. 25 Con. O which is a 13" clutch maybe I should get this one instead, anyone with any experience with any of these clutches, and any thoughts, thanks

I think their site calls the MU13-1. 25 Con-FE their 'ultimate towing clutch'. Plus it's rated the highest. I would go with this one or if you plan to keep the power below 300hp/750ftlb and tow heavy, I'd go with a new stock replacement. Stock Sachs = Towing. They are available on ebay, Quad4x4 and I hear SBC sells them as well. I just installed their FE and its smooth and has a softer than stock pedal. I'll never tow with it so I can't help ya there.

Not going to knock any of the SBC products, I've never owned one, and will probably upgrade to one of theirs come clutch time(only because I'd like to pull 3rd once in a while on the pulling track), but I have $. 02.

I am running 235 hp/586 torque, and tow heavy, upwards of 29,000#. The stock Sachs clutch has never let me down, it holds and goes. The only time it has ever slipped on me is when I've tried moving the sled with 3rd gear, low side, and 33" rubber, or offroad sliding the clutch in.

I don't know what the price of a new Sachs is, but its a good clutch, as long as you are not trying to rev the engine, and slide the clutch out like the pullers do.

I would shy away from any clutch smaller diameter then what you have, there is a reason the second gen trucks had more clutch problems then the first gens, and it wasn't from more power, it was from less clutch.

Thanks for the input, I believe I will buy SBC's MU-13. 1. 25 Con. O its 350 hp and 750 tq, and can tow heavy if needed, and comes with a new flywheel and everything needed, they just told me when I purchase it to let them know its a Getrag instead of a New Venture so I get the right pilot bearing with the 13 1/4" clutch. I only plan on putting a aftermarket injector pump on it, I have a '03 thats heavlily modified to get my speed fix with.

Hmm, I wasn't told or ask anything like that when I bought my ConFe. My flywheel came with the needle type bearing for a pilot.

bgilbert, are you still running your Getrag or have you converted to a NV transmission? I would plan on keeping the ole Getrag as long as Catastrophic failure doesn't occur.
