Competition Who has the most sled hooks??

Competition Airbags

I just got my clutch back from peter and after it was installed I can't get the thing into gear. The clutch pedel is soft with really no pressure intill you get 3" from the floor. Have bleed the system 5 times with no air. When the clutch is in and you go to put it in gear you can see the pickup try to move. The master and slave are new. Does anyone know of a master and slave that have a longer pushing stroke because that is what I think the problem. I put a 4 1/2" long 5/16 bolt as my pushing rod and that help but still it is not right. A 5" is to long to even bolt the slave up. Is this bad to do I need help on this one.

Thanks

jim

Which SBC clutch did you get?

Did you machine the flywheel? And if you did how much did you have to take off?

I have seen their DD clutches do what you are saying and they are trying to use a spacer for the extra bit of travel to get it to fully dissengage. And I have seen people take to much off the flywheel and do the same thing you are discribing.

Generally a longer rod in the slave cylinder will not do any good. It simply shifts the travel range of the cylinder back. Sounds like you've got air in the system but obviously it's not at the bleeder  Have you spoken with Peter about it?

I got the 3850 can't remember if it is the 10 or 12 button. Peter did all of the rebuilding on the clutch so I don't know how much he took off. I put the spacer in that J&H told me about.

Would you have a better idea about where or how I should try to bleed it again. Yes I have talk to peter and he told me about this thing with switching out for a set of 12 vaule stuff and talk to jeff swanson and he useing a longer push rob. If you guys have any better ideas please tell me.

You stated you have a new M/C and slave. Did you bench bleed the master? A friend of mine redid his toyota clutch with new everything, but he didn't bench bleed the master and had your symptoms.

I've only bled one and it was several years ago on my 96. It's a long story about stupid me and breaking the line while installing the clutch but long story short, I had a soft pedal, got it bled out, and had no problems with it. Trouble is I can't remember how I did it  Surely not going to be easy on Chrysler's "non serviceable system".

This just happend to me last week. I had to get a new slave, You take the roll pin out of the hose/slave connection, then take the slave and put it at a 45 deg. angle and fill it as much as you can, (its hard to get all the air out, just take your time) Then without spilling to much hook up the hose to the slave. I then put the master cyl. high up in the air, filled the resivior and I slowly pushed in and out for about 5 minutes on the slaves push rod until all the air got out ( you might need someone else to hold the resivior). Shake the hose as will and make sure that the master cyl and resivior is the highest point so that the air goes up.
