Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) code 1693

Guy's, pulled out of parking lot today and the truck kept shifting 2nd 3rd back and forth and was just getting up to speed and truck died. It started up after five seconds of cranking,ran fine the rest of the way home and I did the key on off and got 1693 then p-done,let me know what you think,happy thanksgiving Don

Pretty sure thats the "companion code". Well, really sure. My code list said "fault in companion mode". Basicly you need to retrive the codes with a reader of some sort to see if there is another code-- the real one.

I dont mix well with auto trannys but I would guess a trans prob. or TPS prob.



Was the Check Engine Light on? Definate codes with that but even if not go to auto zone or equivelant and have them check, their reader may reveal more info.

Once again... ... ... ... ... . 1693 just means you are looking in the wrong module! you need a decent scan tool to pull the codes from the different modules on the truck,
