Just curious.
In post #11 Timd32 attached a pdf with some good places to look. I didn't see anywhere in this thread where the EMC connectors were physically checked. Did you disconnect C2 form the ECM and look at/clean/reset the related pins and cavities, including finding/inspecting G114 (ground)? Also, there are two ECM related splices identified in the schematic.
Power: Voltage checks to the power pins.
Continuity: (battery positive terminal disconnected*) Ohm checks from respective C2 pins to B+ (Battery terminals) and respective C2 pins to ground should verify continuity.
  • * Never do an ohm check from a power source to ground. Excitement factor elevates. Magic smoke leaks from meter/fuse and/or meter wires.

I did not. I will do so this week. Thanks for the reminder.

Wanted to provide an update. I took it to a shop and they diagnosed it as a TIPM issue. I was not so sure, so I dug around some more and recleaned all contacts, and found a ground wire that was rubbed thru that I repaired. Code still came back. I also thought about the TIPM, and recalled that I had read here at TDR that adding items to the truck can affect the TIPM. I had added backup lights in the past, and wired it up as suggested here with a relay. However, recently I wired up my camper shell brake light using the factory brake wire take off (I don't know the tech term!) located in the rear wiring harness near the bumper. I did not use any relays, connecting this wire to the positive wire of the camper shell brake light and the ground to the truck frame. Well, I figured that was really the only new thing on my truck since the problems started (but didn't start right away), so I disconnected it and wouldn't you know it. It has been over a month and the code has not returned. I will try re-wiring it with a relay like I did my back up lights and see if the code comes back, but at this point I think that was the culprit. Knock on wood!
Just wanted to post this so that someone might learn from my mistakes!

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. You were smart backtracking your work.

Thank you for taking the time to post your fix. So many times this part of the dialog is left out.
