Newbie here but lurker for some time while researching the purchase of my truck. I ended up purchasing a “new to me” 2007 quad cab 5.9. Purchased less than a year ago at 79K miles. Unfortunately my first post is about a problem. The truck has been working great and now at 96k. On a trip out west, I had code P0868 pop up while at highway speed (thanks to Santa and Edge CTS for ability to see the code and monitor fluid temp). Pulled over and only symptom is truck starts out very sluggish. It appears to be starting in 2nd gear. Otherwise, other gears are working fine, fluid temp OK. I was close to my destination so forged ahead without further problem.
I did service the transmission with fluid change, filter, and band adjustment prior to the trip and had about 2,000 miles after the service when the code occurred. I’ve been second guessing my mechanical skills since. I did drop the pan double checked the filter seat, wire connections, etc. All OK. I used a torque wrench on all bolts and followed service manual to the letter on band adjustments.
My question: Did I do something wrong during service of the transmission that could have caused this? Or a coincidence? I would think if I screwed up, it would have shown up sooner.
Anyway I’m about to take it to the dealer for diagnostics but hate to pay them to do something I can do myself, so I thought I would reach out to this nice community of mechanical wizards for advice. Thanks in advance!
