Brakes pull to the right

Need some advice. I recently had a problem where I had stopped at the store and ran in a for just a couple of minutes and I came back out released the parking brake and then went to drive away and felt a pop almost identical to what it feels like when you release the brake. Then the Brake and ABS lights came on and have stayed on since and my ABS is disabled. I prefer to do my own work whenever possible and am considering buying a OBDII scanner of some type. I saw an ad from Checker that had one on sale but am not sure what features I should be trying to get etc. I would like one that can allow me to clear codes so hopefully getting this ABS problem can be the first one I try and isolate and correct.

1. What should I expect to spend for a fairly decent one? it doesn't need to be the top of the line but one that will actually be useful and not just a toy.

2. Are there any particular brands that are better for one reason or another?

3. Where is the best place to look for one?

4. Anyone have a similar experience with the ABS system that could help me out on that end?

I've been looking around at these with more of mind toward onboard monitoring. I'm most interested in the things at scantool.net. Works in conjunction with a pc, laptop etc. I haven't purchased one yet. I don't know anything about the abs.

Good Luck

Chad
