To remedy a potential hazard of some trucks not locking in park when the lever is moved, Chrysler introduced the reverse horn alarm. At over 107K miles, my '06 now sometimes pops into reverse after I shift to park. This typically happens when I'm maneuvering the RV into position and get out to check. As designed, the horn blows, irritating the neighbors and startling the crap out of me.

Is there a remedy for that? Adjustment or parts replacement? Live with it and be more careful?

Many on here have sought ways to disable the reverse horn feature but I'm glad now that I didn't do so despite the noise. At least I don't get away from the truck while it's still rolling backward.

Connections tend to work loose over time and the bracket on the trans will flew causing the lever to not fully engage the park rod into the pawl and lcok it in to park. A simple adjustment of the cable will frequently solve the problem. In other case bending the cable bracket towards the back of the truck will do the same thing.

If it is actually kicking the detent back to reverse and the dash shows R the pawl is not engaging fully and tension is popping it back. Not good because at any point under pressure it could release. The awl needs to set into the nothces deep enough to hold so engaging park should be done with service brake on then let it roll into the lock to make sure it will hold. If you are in the habit of releasing the brake at the same time the shifter hits park that can pop the pawl back and the shft lever also as the pressure hits when the truck rolls.

Sometimes it is adjustment, sometimes it is changing the park process.
