during me and brady's conversation yesterday, i belive he said that it was a absolute 2 micron filter. Oo.

2 micron filters only trap a portion of particles down to 2 micron and two micron absolute traps something like 90% of all 2 micron, absolute is the only way to get the best protection, i know fleetguard, caterpillar, and donaldson all produce absolute filters, that is what caterpillar calls for on mining equipment... hope this helps...

The part number is S3201S for the filter and RK30051 for the filter bowl. I have them in my hands right now and there is no mistake as to the part numbers. We just received a new shippment of them today and we now have plenty. The complete assy number I gave you earlier is hard to get but the two I just gave is very easy to buy. The Racor 2 micron rating is absolute and not an average rating. That is what you will have to worry about when you consider other after market filters. Racor was the first to patent waterstop filter paper and I believe it is the best. The fuel injection industry has been unanimous about the great quality of Racor. Sorry about not being able to get in to talk to us today. Bussiness is good but we feel very bad that you could not contact us. Thanks, Brady

Now, my question is WHICH filter does this replace on the FASS?? The particulate filter on the FASS is a 1. 5"D thread... those are only a 1" thread leaving me believe they fit in place of the water separator on the FASS, not the particulate filter... I'm not to keen on that...

You may be suprised to know that the filter that this will replace is what everyone thinks is the water seperator. The fact is that this filter is a vacume side 5-10 micron filter. The other filter is a hydraulic filter and and the micron rating is not as good. I am sure that Brad at DPP has some part numbers that may be better for filteration for that side. I am going to make sure that nothing gets by the Racor filter, that way I will not have to change the other filter very often. Fleetguard is also a filter you can trust but the price is not that much better to make me adjust my thought process. I have already been saved by having this filter in place. I stoped at a fuel station in Caliente Nevada on the way from NASCAR in Las Vegas, my wife said do you have good fuel filters when she saw the fuel station. I filled up anyway and by the time I got home I had the filter bowl full of crap. I changed it very soon and the contamination was a joke. I don't think my fuel system took any hit from that fuel I put in that day. Thanks, Brady

If you want to stay with the stock filter housing but want a better filter, STAR says there will be a 7 micron filter coming at the end of April. PN is 68001914AA and fits all 03 and newer trucks. I looked on DealerConnect and it was not priced yet and there were none available with 12 on B/O.

They also said the trucks built after March 31 have the 7 micron filter in them.

What about replacements for the filters on the Air Dog system, it has a 2 micron, but I don't know if that's absoloute 2 micron. Just wondering if there was any other options for them.

Actually, the fuel/water separator is a 144 micron screen... and depending on your filter choice, you can get into 3 micron range with the particulate filter... the HF6604 and I believe a CimTek and Donaldson also get into this range.

Thanks for the info men... should the 2micron system go after the D/C filter?

These are the Filters that have Been on our stationary and auxiliary Tanks since 2003 they are in dual mounted, we could not fine a filter I thought would work Properly mounted to the fuels systems of our trucks. . these Zinga Filters should not be install on internal combustion systems.

The One to the Right is the Filter used at Fuel Stops they are in adequate. I think at Best they are 20mics even though advertise 10mic.

Add to or replace stock pump

If one wanted to add a 2 micron filter between the stock filter and cp3, would it be better to replace the intank lift pump with a stonger unit (FASS pump only, Aeromotive, Walboro, etc) or to add a second pump, in-line, to help the stock pump push fuel thru the 2 micron filter?? I looked at Superduty's page and the bypass he used is pretty slick. But is there a pressure regulator in there? I am looking to add a Stanadyne FM1000 to my 06.

Is there a Fleetguard equivalent also?

The way the filter manufactures and industry Rating system is so deceptive, the Flow rates and Pressure are so manipulated how can any accuracy be supported. Even the 3mic Picture in reality is 5 @ 50% Nominal and a Absolute Rating of 23 mic 98. 7%,A ZAE03 Filter (not Picture) that is rated 3mic in reality is 2Mic @ 50% Nominal and a absolute rating of 4 98. 7%. One Thing that is certain, the slower that liquid travels through the filter the more particles remove Times=x, also the Higher the Pressure the more restrictive the filter becomes.

Now that's some great information (as always, sag).

Remember that Stanadyne also makes a nice 2-micron filter assembly, and are one of the few companies that actually publish efficiency curves for them.

[Obviously I'm a little biased, since I'm running a Stanadyne filter assembly]

My thoughts on a good Filtration system would be to entirely Plumb it separate from the injection system and circulate according to the Flow rate = filtration, They is no way to filter to 5mic 100% on the first Pass. You would need to be at 5psi 20gph, You could install a bypass But you would need 1 inch line to feed the filter and reduce to 5/8 to the Pump and 5/8 back to the Tank and ONE hellva Pump.

I would like your input Todd.

I don't like the separate multi-pass arrangement because a fresh tank of fuel takes quite a bit of time to be filtered through before you've got nice clean fuel.

Personally, I like systems that keep the stock filter assembly and add a final filter between it and the CP-3. That arrangement seems to me the most economical and most efficient. Unfortunately, no one makes such a system "out of the box" - you have to be inventive like bmallen.

I can sell you a Racor complete filter assy. It could be cheaper if you wanted just the filteration. But for not much more we can sell you a Fass with the Racor 2 mic and clear sedament bowl. Just something for thought value. Thanks
