Need some help here with a series of questions guys... .

first off, a friend just bought a 2002 2500, QC, SWB, Auto, loaded, w/o leather. He takes delivery of it Saturday. It already has 1000 miles on it (sort of the "demo" off the lot). Anyway, my other friend has already purchased his Comp box while he has the $$$, waiting for the future purchase of a 2000/2001 CTD.

First question... . how much of the power of the Comp can the Stock transmission on this new 2002 hold? If we were to hook up the pump wire, and run it on 5x5, and you eased into the power, would it hold it? How bout something like 3x3? The reason being that the new owner SAYS he only wants an EZ, but he just "wants to try" the power of the comp. Should we even let him hook up the pump wire?

Secondly, the same friend that has the Comp wants the easiest way to install/uninstall it from a multitude of CTD's before he has his... . heard some things about the Blue Chip pump cover. As for a permanent install, is this the best way to go? Can it be taken off easily for warranty work, or is it even a hassle? Would it make switching a box from one truck to the other fairly fast and easy? He's wanting to try this Comp on about 3 different pickups, so they can all see the power that is raved about on here, but he doesn't want to go splicing into a ton of pump wires and what not. Any help on this would be appreciated... . mostly where to read more info, where to buy, and how much $$$.

Finally, should I personally go into debt for a brand new 2002 CTD, or wait to buy the used one that I can get for cheap. $26,880 for a loaded one right now... . I don't know... . that's a pretty good deal if you ask me. Otherwise, probably $18,000 for a 2001 w/ around 75,000 either in August or next February..... hmm... . decisions, decisions.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Later, Josh.

get the "Grabber" it is a test lead that pierces the pump wire. . http://www.tstproducts.com/pmgrabber.htm..much easier to use than the pump cover... and you do not run the risk of toasting a pump if you tighten the screw too much and short the wire to the pump housing.

you can purchace a pair of Grabbers from Grainger for $27. 50 they are made by Pomona, and the Grainger stock number is 1X943. They are good for piercing cable up to . 14"

if you use a COMP with a stock auto... you are asking for trouble..... nuff said.

I have a brand new pump cover from blue chip. I never even had the patience to wait to install it. I just tapped the wire. I know a few people who are using the cover that are worried about the warranty. It will work fine if installed properly. I will sell mine for $40... ... ... You pay shipping, about $1. 50. It is unopened in original shipping package. Greg

The Blue Chip pump cover is really slick and bolts on When the insulation of a wire is pierced there is a risk of corrosion not to mention that Dodge is now examining warrantied pumps for wire pricks. The Blue Chip cover is a very simple install and fixes both the warranty and performance problems that evolve with bad connections. I'm not affiliated with Blue Chip or any other vendor but do like to try different products. Chip invented the first fueling box for our trucks (heard at Muncie that he is being issued a patent). Blue Chip continues to refine old and develop new products. ;)

As for how much increase in torque an auto trans will tolerate... ..... it is difficult to predict due to driving styles, towing, etc. but the torque convertor lockup clutch won't stand much abuse. I will say that I earned a good living for almost thiry years repairing/upgrading automatic transmissions, that is why all my CTD's have manual transmissions. JMHO, Larry
