Need some help here with a series of questions guys... .
first off, a friend just bought a 2002 2500, QC, SWB, Auto, loaded, w/o leather. He takes delivery of it Saturday. It already has 1000 miles on it (sort of the "demo" off the lot). Anyway, my other friend has already purchased his Comp box while he has the $$$, waiting for the future purchase of a 2000/2001 CTD.
First question... . how much of the power of the Comp can the Stock transmission on this new 2002 hold? If we were to hook up the pump wire, and run it on 5x5, and you eased into the power, would it hold it? How bout something like 3x3? The reason being that the new owner SAYS he only wants an EZ, but he just "wants to try" the power of the comp. Should we even let him hook up the pump wire?
Secondly, the same friend that has the Comp wants the easiest way to install/uninstall it from a multitude of CTD's before he has his... . heard some things about the Blue Chip pump cover. As for a permanent install, is this the best way to go? Can it be taken off easily for warranty work, or is it even a hassle? Would it make switching a box from one truck to the other fairly fast and easy? He's wanting to try this Comp on about 3 different pickups, so they can all see the power that is raved about on here, but he doesn't want to go splicing into a ton of pump wires and what not. Any help on this would be appreciated... . mostly where to read more info, where to buy, and how much $$$.
Finally, should I personally go into debt for a brand new 2002 CTD, or wait to buy the used one that I can get for cheap. $26,880 for a loaded one right now... . I don't know... . that's a pretty good deal if you ask me. Otherwise, probably $18,000 for a 2001 w/ around 75,000 either in August or next February..... hmm... . decisions, decisions.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Later, Josh.
