Please help:(

I needed to disconnect my Comp box so I can visit the dealer and I think I must have messed up somehow.

Here is exactly what I did. I know now I probably should have disconnected the battery but hind sight is beautiful thing.

I have a problem with the transmission shuttling in and out of OD and it was suggested to see if disconnecting the box would cure the problem before having a computer reflash done. The Local service guy actually said he thinks there is a TSB on this problem.

But anyway, not wanting to get grief from the local dealer I disconnected my box only from my truck, coiled up the wire under the dash and thought I would be fine. Well this morning I started it up, the check engine light won't go off and there is absolutely no power. Boost won't climb over 5 - 7 lbs, I couldn't see any smoke and I still have the transmission problem.

Did I forget to something here. Do I need to disconnect the MAP sensor or remove something else along the way.

I thought  all I needed to do was pull the box.

I'm driving something that won't pass an ice cream truck and it is frustrating! Please help a newbie to all this stuff.

thanks

Did you disconnect the 'box' from the data link and the map sensor, or just unplug the 'box' and hide the wires? You have to unplug the 'box' harness from the map sensor and plug in the factory plug and unplug the data link and put the jumper back in.

Well I would completely disconnect the Comp, reinstall your correct factory boost elbow (if you have installed the one that came with the comp), then setup everything like it came from the factory, disconnect your battery cables for a half hour or so.

Also are you running the Comp on Level 5 with a stock transmission?

Need more info.

I just unplugged the box. It was such a pain to get the data link plugged in the first time I wanted to avoid doing this.

But if I must, I must.

Thanks for the information. I'll un plug these items tonight.

I thought that one these connections was in line and didn't need disconnecting. Can't remember which one right now. But anyway if they need to be disconnected... ... ...

Thanks again

Ya... . I unplugged my box to test my transmission also, WHAT a dog... ! Just plug your box back in and leave it in the "off" condition when you go to the dealer, they won't be able to detect the box,( I asked the tech at the dealer) when they do a flash to your computer. If the codes and lights don't clear, disconnect your batteries for a while, good luck

Some dealers are more tolerant of mods than others.

I'd disconnect and remove ALL traces of the "Mod" before letting the dealer touch my truck.

It's one thing to not detect the box with the OBDII, it's quite another to "not detect" the box when it's velcro'ed to the dash.

transmission

I have a Georend Bros. triple disc converter and vb in it. They have been performing great. I was pulling some loads in the 12K to 14K range and that is when the tc started acting up.

I believe the issue is not related to the the transmission upgrades. When the the power was poured to the transmission the tc would remain locked and no slipping could be felt. However, when the speed was around the 50 mph mark it would shuttle back and forth into OD regardless if I had a load on or not.

Discussions with Dave at GB steered me towards an electronic issue. That brings me to where I am today.

Regarding the disconnection. You have the map sensor still plugged in and the data link, but you have the box unplugged with no power... and so signal whatso ever.

So the truck thinks something is wrong. Pull the data plug, and reconnect the map sensor if your gonna just yank the box.

Thanks

It is on the list for tonites projects. This along with pulling the transmission on a tractor.

God I love the summer heat and projects... ... ... .

Problem FIXED - MAYBE

Thanks for the help. I pulled the MAP and Data Link connections and everything is fine now.

I also left the battery disconnected for an hour and the Check Engine light still came on. So I cycled the key three or four times and it then cleared itself.

So here's the question.

I have not been able to duplicate the transmission tc shuttling since. Would cycling the key have reset or cleared the problem?

This here lectronic stuff is mystifying... ... . :--) :--)
