Well fellow Rammers,
Although I've owned my '93 for over three years, I feel like I just truley became a 1st Genner today. Last weekend, I installed a high flow exhaust from Jannety Racing... . sweet. And this weekend, I installed the 16cm2 housing and 190hp injectors I bought the injectors from a fellow TDR member. It wasn't hard to figure out which turbo housing to go with as the 16cm2 housing is the one listed at numerous vendors. I came real close a couple of times to install the HX35 off my 2nd Gen 02, but thought better of the additional mods to the down pipe.
I got some advice from the TDR, but had to figure a little out about the turbo housing install. Separating the old one I had to use a steel chisel to get two of the four hold down bolts off. Advance Auto Parts had them. The tough part was getting it separated. The darned pinwheel kept binding. I called my Friend Larry Willard, and he told me he thought they did come apart. Thanks Larry. That was enough for me to go for it. So I tapped it lightly and it came right apart. I had a separate post where I asked for help, then came back and said I figured it out. Joe Donnely piped in w/ a really good explanation on that post. Thanks Joe
I took the wise advice from this forum and removed the valve covers and removed the injector line holdowns. Real easy moving the injector lines side and back. There is a blessing for saving old bolts and nuts. I made my own injector removal tool with a 6inch bolt, a deep well socket and a nut. I ordered a 5. 9 B motor injector intallation kit that had assorted copper washers, the drainback replacement washers and the rubber seals for the injector hold downs. I used the thinnest washers. After I completed the install, I checked valve lash after over 30k miles using my Cummins upper end adjustment tool set. They were still perfect.
I bled injectors 1, 3 and 5 then 2, 4 and 6. She started up a little rough but smoothed out real nice. Results: Very nice. Feels stronger all around. Nice!
I have to say, being a member of the TDR has paid for itself many times over with the great technical source it is, and what a grat bunch of folks I've had the pleasure to call friends.
Hi Oh Silver Away! next project is to get all the hail dents out of the '93 and give her a new color. Safety Yellow and Gloss Black (Super "B").
Thanks and Happy Trails to All!
